Weird Scientology ADD handling????

I was told recently by a person who hates Scientology with a passion about a weird Scientology practice that I have never heard of. Perhaps one of you have?

This ADD cure that was going on some 30 years ago, according to this person, involved waking the person up in the middle of the night, and taking them through the house and pointing out objects that had signs on them. Stuff like a clock would have a sign saying CLOCK, or a door would be labeled DOOR. Sort of like a life sized clay demo.

Any idea what the hell this was or if it was even a Scientology practice? I remember something vaguely like that, but I thought is was some sort of thing to train your kid to read, and I have never seen any red on white or green and white about it.

I was wondering if they did that in conjunction with a purif to run out Ritalan to break the ADD?

We recently had the opportunity to play Watch Dogs 2, and this time (instead of focusing on the free-play elements of the game like last time), we decided to tackle some of the game's story missions. Light spoilers abound from here on out.

We had the opportunity to play the game from the very start until about four hours in, and in that time we had full access to the early part of the story. The story missions are good fun - and incredibly varied - so we thought we'd show you how to tackle one of the earliest missions the game has on offer: taking down the New Dawn cult.

So in the video below, we take on a church that's suspiciously similar to the Church of Scientology, and go and 'audit' a famous action actor called Jimmy Siska. Check out our gameplay video below:

Ubisoft may be inviting a bit of controversy with its upcoming game "Watch Dogs 2," especially from the Church of Scientology.

According to Polygon, the upcoming game will feature tons of side missions, and in one of these missions, protagonist Marcus Holloway is tasked to infiltrate an organization that closely resembles the Church of Scientology.

Marcus will also be speaking with one character within the organization which suspiciously sounds like one of the church's high profile members, "Mission Impossible" actor Tom Cruise.

In the video, Marcus and his Dedsec crew talk about fictional religious sect New Dawn taking down one of their videos, and Marcus would have to pretend to audit Jimmy Siska, New Dawn's high profile spokesperson.

During an interview with VentureBeat, Ubisoft's content director and "hacking consultant" Thomas Geffroyd talked about fictionalizing corporation names to be used in the game.

"I think it'll be pretty clear to everyone who we're emulating," Geffroyd said. "Some of the names will ring a bell."

Speaking about emulating the religious sect, Geffroyd said, "The False Prophets would be an example. It's inspired by Project Chanology, which was the first major Anonymous operation. It was a way to give them a little wink. But I promise you we have some pretty funky stuff in there."

My story in Scientology

I'm going to tell my story bit by bit - here's my first bit, copied over from the new members introduction forum.

Finding the OT Levels

OK, so, I had been off staff for a few years, and paid off a £12,000+ freeloader bill. I would go into the Org now and again, and had about £2,000 in my account. Being in need of a stat one week, someone in the Org decided that I needed a Sec Check, which, coincidentally, ended up using the £2,000 I had in my account. At the time, I knew I didn’t need a Sec Check, but decided that the tech people knew best, and went along with it. Anyway, there came a point in the Sec Check, as I was starting to feel worse and worse, when it suddenly occurred to me that the Church might not actually be capable of getting me ‘up the Bridge’. That started a chain of thought rolling.

Meanwhile, having extricated myself partially from Org life, I had managed to get myself back on track with my wog life somewhat, by going to university (I had abandoned a place at university previously to join staff). (Hummingbird: there – I’ve narrowed it down from 3 to 1 :-P)

Sitting in the university computer room, with the Fishman documents in front of me on the screen, I had OTI to OTVIII links, plus other confidential stuff, begging me to open them. I took a deep breath. Inserted a floppy disk into the computer’s disk drive, and then paused. “Once I click on these, it’s going to take them maybe an hour to get to me. OK, Go!!!” I knew there was a good chance I wouldn’t have time to read them there before they got to me somehow, so I downloaded them to the floppy, and then dumped the entire set of files to a dot matrix printer in the next room. I then took the floppy, and the printout (several hundred pages, including the pages and pages and pages of OTII implant platens) and rushed out of the building. My heart pounded all the way home. I didn’t really think they would physically come for me, but I had thought that they might somehow be able to detect that I was downloading them, and stop the download, or SOMETHING. Or perhaps they WOULD come for me.

Reading the OT levels was a whole thing in itself. I wasn’t too worried about OTI, but II and III had me really scared. I spent a whole afternoon with OTIII. Read one line, pause, wait, “am I still OK?” Then read the next line, heart pounding. I got through the story of Xenu like that. When I got to the technical stuff (I won’t give the details here) I was really panicking, and I did feel a little unwell (but I’ll tell you more about what happened to me after reading it in a later post). In the end, I just COULDN’T READ the details of the incidents, on that day. I really felt like it was possible I would cave in and die.

Later that evening, I rushed to a friend’s place of work (he worked night shift). He was ex-SO, and disaffected with the local org, and read the stuff with fascination. I would later show two or three other almost-exes the same materials.

More later….
My story in Scientology

Out for years - it's taken this long to post here

Hi All,

I've been reading ESMB and other sites for years now, but never got around to joining and posting my story. I've been thinking of posting for the last couple of days, and so here I am....

I'll get around to posting my full story soon, but for now here's a thumbnail sketch:

I got into Scn at around the age of 16, after getting a leaflet shoved into my hand about Dianetics, and subsequently buying the book. Did a couple of courses (the How to Achieve Effective Communication Course - a forerunner of the Success Through Communication Course), hesitated, left for about a year, then went back. I ended up joining staff and working in Div 6 briefly. I quickly got sick of the working conditions (living on £3.50 per week, which was more or less what I earned most weeks) and asked to route off. In response, I was asked to join the TTC (Tech. Training Corps) and train up to Grad V. I knew it was off policy, but I was there for the auditor training and auditing, so I went for it. Did up to Class 3 at St. Hill, then got ripped off of that to go to ITO (International Training Org) to train as a Key to Life Review Auditor. Finished up to class 4 there, and did KTL/LOC and the review auditor training. Got back to my org, and then left staff within a month or two. I stayed onlines (sort of) as a public after that, but then after a couple of years I decided to have a peek at the OT levels online, and showed them to some others in a similar situation to me (who were also doing the hokey cokey with respect to whether to stay onlines. I eventually got declared for this. I'll tell you what happened when I eventually decided to audit the OT levels myself at home in a later post....

A couple of random thoughts: (1) After getting off staff, I attended several events. I remember attending the "War is Over" event. When Miscavige issued the punchline, people were clapping and cheering. I remember thinking "what the hell has this got to do with spirituality? Tax exemption? Really?" It really got me thinking carefully about what I was doing in there.
(2) At one event in St. Hill, an old friend of mine who was in the SO proudly brought over a Class XII auditor to talk to me. I think he was expecting me to be in awe, and to sign up for some big service, or something. Instead, I went right down her throat. About how the Church was scamming people, didn't care about spiritual progress, all about the money, so many injustices, etc etc. I fully expected to be marched out of St. Hill. Instead, I was startled to see that the Class XII couldn't handle me. She had no idea how to respond to me. With hindsight, I suppose it was because, being from Flag, she must have seen many ludicrous cycles take place, in which people had been fleeced or whatever; she could probably see my point.

OK, that's a thumbnail sketch. There's a lot more detail, and I will try to tell my story bit by bit in another thread later.

Wilbur (not my real name).

Your Body Thetans won't be satisfied with anything less than Post-Scientology Spiritual Rescue Technology.

Possibly Helpful Advice: Once you open the door to communicating with spirits, you cannot shut it again

http://ift.tt/2dNQScV

* * * * * BEGIN EXCERPT * * * * *

There are practices which enable you to communicate with spirits and all of these have the effect of waking up the spirits surrounding you. Once these beings are woken up, they tend to participate in everything you do.

Spiritual Rescue Technology (SRT) is not the only practice that communicates with spirits. Scientology OT Levels, Ron’s Org OT levels, Knowledgism upper levels, and the National Spiritualist Association of Churches all invoke spirits and enable open communication with them.

If you involve yourself in any of these practices and then go on to some other practice that uses rituals or repetitive questions or repeated chants to a higher power, you will get adverse reactions that you don’t expect.

[SNIP]

The bottom line is if you want to sample a lot of different spiritual practices, make Spiritual Rescue Technology your last choice. SRT will increase your psychic ability and you will become aware of thoughts and forces you never perceived before.

If you want to dabble in other practices after using SRT, your entities may give you a bit of trouble and you won’t be able to fix it until you get more SRT counseling from a trained SRT counselor.

Once you do SRT, your entities will not want to go back. You have been warned.

The entire article is excellent. I suggest you read it all. I will briefly excerpt only the part relevant to the quotation above.

Daily Beast: Tom Cruise Breaks Silence on Scientology: It’s a ‘Beautiful Religion’

But among all of Remini’s allegations, the most fascinating concerned Scientology’s golden boy, Tom Cruise. “Being critical of Tom Cruise is being critical of Scientology itself,” she told 20/20 last year. “You are a person who is anti the aims and goals of Scientology. You are evil.” As countless fellow stars have jumped from Scientology’s creepy, sinking ship, Cruise has stood by the religion, arguably to his own personal and professional detriment. Tom Cruise is the Kellyanne Conway of Scientology.

[SNIP]

Cruise’s reticence about publicly discussing his not-so-private faith is most likely due to the fact that talking about Scientology makes him sound like a raving narcissist. Given the clear and present threat to his public image, it’s hard to say why the actor was recently driven to break his silence. On the red carpet for his latest film, Jack Reacher 2: Never Go Back, Cruise opened up about Scientology. And unfortunately for both the star and his publicist, Cruise can never go back.

Ok, another excerpt, only because the writing is so good:

But while Holmes and Cruise ultimately agreed to disagree about the age of the universe and the legitimacy of psychiatry, Scientology has continued to differentiate their parenting styles to disastrous effect. While Holmes prefers a hands-on approach, including such adventures as picking Suri up from school and taking her outside, Cruise appears to parent exclusively from within the confines of his own home. The last time Cruise was photographed with his daughter Suri was around three years ago, when he took her to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park in Florida. Cruise might have an original excuse for spurning his spawn, but his “divorced daddy takes you to Disney World routine” is downright cliché. According to an InTouch update from early June 2015, Cruise hasn’t seen his ten-year-old daughter IRL since she was seven. “They used to Skype and text, but that trailed off drastically,” a source told the gossip mag. In other words, Cruise has more contact with Siri than Suri.

I have acheived the power of satan , all I did was go to the store and buy some for a couple of dollars , I should mention it was chicken seitan and not actual satan because the bible is rubbish as is scintlgy's codswallop,

Because we are all composed of matter/energy and also therefore occupy space , consumption and digestion of the chicken seitan has given me powers .....
the powers of ET ... extra tartar sauce and pork loins with mint garnish

maybe satan is thetan ... i don't see why not...

unfortunately chicken seitan is partially gluten and I am gluten intolerant and so my powers will not last because I will likely fall into a deep lethargy in any case should I diy tell my family i lov them

Attaining actual Spritual Freedom

The Journey to Nowhere!

I am not for or against Scientology. It has many positive aspects and of course like everything else in this world negative aspects .
I do not wish to write untruthful stories about the religion but will express what My experience in the church was like and what unfolded as one of the greatest adventures for me so far . I will begin by giving a brief history of my life just to provide background.

Since a young age I was fascinated with the world around me and what it was all about . The mystery of why we are here, the point of it all and where we go after death was a constant wonder in my mind . I was born into a christian family but didn't feel the explanations on life and the universe seemed right . It was a constant battle of confusion and in my late teens i decided to look at other spiritual practices and religions . Engaged in different movements and cults. Read as many books on spirituality as possible but still felt a deep sense of lack and confusion .
When reading a book by Lama Surya Das about the Buddhist eight fold path to enlightenment I new deeply that ultimately all this lack that humans feel the need to fill with pointless things would be remedied if one was enlightened . This fueled a strong sense of motivation to attain the state of enlightenment within this lifetime .
Reading more and more Buddhism ,meditating for an hour a day and practicing the moral codes of Buddhism itself made me feel ethical and healthy but ultimately i still felt the lack within and wanted to change that to the state of serenity promised by the Buddha. After a while I started to lose hope that Enlightenment was possible so I stopped meditating and just continued with life .
One day I was walking in Melbourne along the yarra River on a bright sunny summer day and bumped in to a man offering stress tests . I was pretty interested , I didn't have stress at the time and was feeling great . I sat down and the stress test was begun . The man was very engaging and asked a series of questions which would tell him if there was stress pertaining to the questions he was asking with the help of his E-Meter . It was all fascinating and incredibly accurate i thought at the time . He started to talk about Dianetics and how the mind works eventually explaining the state of clear which really sounded amazing . Could clear be what the Buddhists call enlightenment? was Dianetics a sure path to becoming an awakened being ? well i was certainly going to find out more about these techniques of clearing negative emotions caused by past moments of pain and unconsciousness.
The little encounter with the lovely man offering the stress tests got me interested and i expressed that I wanted to buy the book but couldn't afford it . He said that although I couldn't afford it , I could Still come to the dianetics Center and learn more about it . He offered me a a pamphlet with the address on it.
The address Read "Church of Scientology" .I told the man that I had heard negative things about Scientology and he asked me if that was going to change my mind about coming in . I said no because I had never been inside the church so there was no way for me to know if the stories were true and my understanding of the mass media was that it was always coming up with lies to try and divert people away from anything actually good.
I walked away from the stress test unable to stop thinking about what was possible with Dianetics . I had agreed to meet with the Scientologist (which we will call Mike ) on Thursday which was a week later . I couldn't wait due to excitement so went into the church the next day.I walked in and said I wanted to buy a copy of dianetics and also to do a personality test . The staff there were lovely and provided me with both . When I had finished the personalty test it got evaluated and My personalty was shown to have certain flaws but could be remedied with Scientology courses . Well Back then I was all about self improvement and was sure as hell open to making that graph look like a masterpiece in the eyes of the Scientologists , so I agreed to do 'How to overcome ups and downs in life '. as soon as i bought the course i was studying everyday and what I was learning was very similar to some of the concepts in earlier religious study's i had undergone . Everything I learnt made so much sense and must have been the truth if it was so simple. I was also reading dianetics every night and was learning more about this reactive mind and the optimum individual known as a Clear . So I completed many Life improvement courses and read Dianetics .After reading book 1 as it is sometimes referred to, I wanted nothing more than to achieve the state of clear . I talked to One of the staff in the church about Dianetics, how it made so much sense and how I wanted to get some auditing . Immediately I was asked if I had seen the Bridge to Total Freedom . 'No' I replied, so he decided to show me a chart that was there hanging framed on the wall . The graph as many Scientologists and ex members know is a chart with all the grades and levels one must go through in order to get to certain levels of spiritual freedom . The staff member was explaining all the levels up from the purification rundown through to clear .He was very informative and helpful . I had many questions but one that I remember vividly was when I asked him " so if Buddha didn't have an auditor to help him run Dianetics then how did he go clear ? ' I asked this because I needed to know if Enlightenment and clear were one and the same thing .
Without any comm lag the staffer replied quite sternly that the Buddha wasn't clear because it was impossible for him to get rid of his reactive mind without an auditor .
"well what was the Buddha then because he definitely was above the normal stated of humans back then ?" I said in confusion .
" well my understanding is that the Buddha had definitely achieved some lower level gains and probably had some OT abilities but wasn't Clear." Said the staff member.
" wow okay well I didn't know that" i said .
I then proceeded to ask him about the states of OT or an Operating Thetan in its UN-abbreviated form.
All that was explained about an OT was very enchanting and reminded me about special abilities some of the most spiritual masters from other religions were known to exhibit.
I needed to know more and also achieve these states and become Spiritually free .
I decide to join staff just to dedicate myself to this new found goldmine . I read some of the basics to learn about life and the universe . I got dianetics Book 1 auditing and then did my purification rundown . I felt great and was moving like a cheetah towards its prey . I started my Survival Rundown which promised I would be 100% in Present time and in control of my mind ,body thoughts and environment .Doing the survival rundown every night was interesting to say the least and i did feel more nd more in 'Present Time' but Something didn't seem right anymore and I had a gut feeling that led me to look and things differently .After surrounding myself with Clears and top level OTs and realizing that even they would still get frustrated ,could be rude and harsh , were prone to illness and were sometimes non accepting of situations and people,I thought what really is different between where am I am At now and where they are at ?
I started to read about peoples experience of scientology and how they lost all there money in their pursuit of spiritual freedom . It got me questioning why this freedom was so expensive. I started to review some of the Buddhist books I had read before scientology and eventually realized that maybe I was chasing a wild goose . Maybe what I was searching for wasn't going to come from doing all the levels .I wasn't upset of angry about the realization but decided I didnt want auditing or to read any more books on the subject . I loved working at the church and was dedicated to helping others work there way up the bridge if they wanted but it wasn't for me and I needed to follow my gut feelings.
One day I decided to read 'The Power Of Now' again just to go over and see if it could help my current situation . Whilst reading it I remember it being different than before. It pointed to something in which was there all along . I felt the peace and stillness that Eckhart was talking about . My life was changed and a deep sense of Completeness and satisfaction was there. The sense of lack was gone but I realized that sense of lack would of been a route to serenity if I had just sat in it for a while . Enlightenment was always there and the more that is was searched for,the less I was able to see it .
This realization and change in consciousness was the most amazing yet simple thing that could of happened and from that point I left scientology and decided that Although it was a part of the journey in which all this happened , It wasn't what I needed . I now Live totally free and in a state of immense joy just being one with everything . I am Nothing and paradoxically everything . I cannot describe who and what I am But feel it deep within My being .
I wish to help all beings now and do not reject anyone .
What is available to everyone now is freedom from suffering ,it is simple and inherent within all. It is free,it is here , it comes from within. I do not ask for any money or any recognition at all I just wish to help other realize there natural state once again and to allow it to flow into the world through them. If there is anyway I can serve you I am Open and willing .
Peace on earth is only possible through the peace you allow to flow out from within,so work on discovering what has been there all along .
Much Love

Sarala

Standard Tech

[SNIP]

I have encountered several bizarre practices “in the field “ that I will list here as an illustration of how far off track things can go when untrained individuals calling themselves auditors will go just to make a quick buck. Let it serve as a warning .

a. “Auditing” over the telephone or Skype.

b. Pretending to be an AO or Ls auditor because you found some information on the internet.

c. auditing a PC on Ls in the middle of another major action .

d. deciding a PC can handle OT materials and coffeeshop auditing them on OT level data.

e. promoting smoking weed while mid OT or other auditing as a sleep remedy.

f. endlessly sec checking a PC/Pre OT in the middle of a major action searching for “critical thoughts”.

g. running GPMs for fun and physical sensation.

h. Auditing Solo with no training or C/S.

i. deciding and telling a PC you don’t think they made a grade based on their wife’s opinion.

j. Telling a PC you will audit them up to and through OT III with no AO training, taking their money and then abandoning them .

All of the above I have encountered and were done by “auditors” who were GAT trained and are at large now in the field. So much for “higher standards”. C/S Series 1 covers the basics of auditor actions relative to C/Sing and is on every auditor check sheet .

Real auditors and C/Ses would never entertain any of the above.

The legacy of Scientology lies with those who actually practice Standard Tech whether in an organization or on ones own. Being a real Scientology practitioner takes real training and discipline and the ability to stand ones ground to defend it. My hat’s off to those who do.

Excellent write up!

I have one point I slightly disagree with, Skype auditing. Having experienced personally and successfully. BUT I totally understand, underlined and all caps, the need for Standard Tech and it’s application being done in person. The lower bridge is a most beautiful thing, no comparison to any other osphy or ism out there. The space created by PC & auditor with in tech application is pure magic.

But this post is not about the pros or cons of Skype auditing, I mainly wanted to share a cog, about the tech taking one from humanoid to OT., made me look at how the exact process, followed exactly brings about uniform results and that how other forms and applications are open to interference, which can lead to a lack if wins. That being said, LRH stated, (not exact quote) the only reason an org or person fails is for lack of results.

Ok, long winded, thank you for reading, very happy for all you standard on tech auditors out there. MUCH ARC~

Moneca,

IF “skype” auditing was 100% workable it would be part of Standard Tech.

The means to explore it were available at Saint Hill with closed circuit TV cameras, headphones, microphones etc. Was it done to success? If it was used, did it work on all cases? Is it the standard, the DEFINITE level or degree of quality adequate and proper for the specific purpose?

Flatly, no.

That you got a win, that the person using this method got a win on you, doesn’t mean that this is going to work in all cases. That’s the difference and the achievement of Standard Tech. There are uncountable this and thats that came and went in the study and accomplishment of getting THE route. None of them were retained if they didn’t produce the consistent results that lead out.

Numerous times in the study of Scientology Ron found auditors who got a “win” on some process or other that thereafter cursed them as they tried it on every other person.

Skype auditing didn’t and doesn’t make the cut. Maybe you got away with it, once. Maybe again, but if you want the actual, full, real gains of Scientology then I’d recommend the real stuff. That is the tried, tested, workable road to truth, the full, nothing but and actual, truth.

Study: The brain adapts to dishonesty

Study could have best been made in the scientology-world, where pathological liars ar at home:

http://ift.tt/2eqKizq
Quote:

The brain adapts to dishonesty

Dishonesty is an integral part of our social world, influencing domains ranging from finance and politics to personal relationships. Anecdotally, digressions from a moral code are often described as a series of small breaches that grow over time. Here we provide empirical evidence for a gradual escalation of self-serving dishonesty and reveal a neural mechanism supporting it. Behaviorally, we show that the extent to which participants engage in self-serving dishonesty increases with repetition. Using functional MRI, we show that signal reduction in the amygdala is sensitive to the history of dishonest behavior, consistent with adaptation. Critically, the extent of reduced amygdala sensitivity to dishonesty on a present decision relative to the previous one predicts the magnitude of escalation of self-serving dishonesty on the next decision. The findings uncover a biological mechanism that supports a 'slippery slope': what begins as small acts of dishonesty can escalate into larger transgressions.

Now let's talk about the brain of hardcore-hubbardites like Marty....

Post-Scientology Spiritual Rescue Technology Says Body Thetans Are With You Forever.

In a further and major deviation from its precursor, Scientology, post-Scientology Spiritual Rescue Technology says Body Thetans are with you forever.

"Many of these once optimistic Scientologists are now so hopeless that they have decided that body thetans are imaginary."

Possibly Helpful Advice: Body Thetans Are With You Forever

On the other hand, the fabled OT levels set expectations that you would be forever free from body thetans (Spiritual Beings who infested your body and caused you difficulties).

On several of the OT levels, your completion depends on your ability to attest to the fact that all of your body thetans are “gone”. This is quite easy to do when you have had a major win and the entire world seems bright and shiny.

Unfortunately for all of you who attested to completion of these OT levels, you cannot get rid of your body thetans, because our environment is filled with these invisible spiritual beings which the rest of the world knows as spirits or spirit guides or ghosts.

Every time you visit a hospital, bar, or a restaurant or even visit with family or friends, you pick up new spiritual beings. They are drawn to you like lint on a blue serge suit. If you get in an argument with someone, you pick up some of their body thetans and you will feel their emotions for days afterwards.

So what happens when you have attested to freeing yourself from all those pesky body thetans and you are cause over life? You find that in the real world your life is still full of problems such as you can’t seem to get hired and people still don’t like you. You can end up alone and friendless.

Possibly you decide that Scientology is a scam, like so many members of ESMB – the Ex Scientologist Message Board

Many of these once optimistic Scientologists are now so hopeless that they have decided that body thetans are imaginary. One well known OT8 from Norway has publicly announced that these body thetans are only separate viewpoints that we have created for ourselves and he is not alone in his opinion.

Denial is one valid way of handling things we don’t understand, but when our lives go into a tailspin from things we cannot see or handle we have no way to stop the decline.

I have seen far too many Scientology OTs suffer debilitating diseases and die because of spiritual beings disturbed by Scientology processing and I want you to know that denial of the existence of spiritual beings is the primary cause.

Spiritual Rescue Technology took a different approach, We let you know up front that you have an infinite supply of spiritual beings around you and YOU CAN’T EVER GET RID OF THEM. But we also show you from the very beginning that you can communicate with these beings and you can get them to help you in more ways than you can imagine.

Material for Tone 40

Hi guys, a tiny question-
Where can I find the different texts where Hubbard has written about Tone 40?
I couldn’t really find it in “Science of Survival” (I did find Tone 4.0, and if it’s the same thing, well, I’m a moron).
I’m doing a small private project (some of which includes debunking alluring Scientology concepts), and I wanted to read through Hubbard’s Tone 40 “philosophy”.
I’ll be eternally grateful for references, even though I am a believer in Verbal Tech

Los Angeles Times: The state is watching these 6 cities closely for financial fraud

http://ift.tt/1sAbbBZ

* * * * * BEGIN EXCERPT * * * * *

The corruption scandal in Bell, which led to the conviction of seven city officials, had sweeping implications for governments in California. Scrutiny by state agencies increased for some cities, and legislators created bills to pump up accountability and transparency, and to curtail political malfeasance. It inspired a 2011 bill aimed at preventing a similar scandal.

The Assembly bill — AB187 — was signed into law that year, leading to the creation of the “high-risk local government audit program” and expanded the auditor’s powers to investigate local agencies heading down the wrong fiscal path.

The state auditor already had an existing program to identify agencies at high risk of fraud or waste, but that law was limited to state functions. The auditor could investigate local agencies only if directed to do so by an audit committee.

“We wanted to give proper authority to the auditor to review these local governments and ensure that the Bell situation would not happened again,” said state Sen. Ricardo Lara (D-Bell Gardens), who had pushed for the measure. “Now we have a third-party entity that can look at and prevent other local governments from falling into corruption.”

Lara said corruption and mismanagement not only undermines the public’s trust but that of state and federal agencies that might balk at providing resources to cities with serious problems.

“At the end of the day, it’s our constituents and communities that suffer,” he said.

The cities being monitored by state auditors are Chico, Richmond, Ridgecrest, Monrovia, Hemet and Maywood.

Margarita Fernandez, spokeswoman for the state auditor, said the cities were identified after auditors looked over public records such as budgets and previous audits.

She said auditors looked for “key financial indicators” such as a city’s ability to respond to financial emergencies, pay short-term debts and meet its pension obligations. They also looked at their revenue growth and projected fiscal outlook.

Most of the six cities were ranked poorly in some or all of the categories. But it was Maywood and Hemet that required audits after they failed to address issues raised by the state auditor.

People silenced by Scientology

This is a problematic question since many of those silenced are unknown except to Scientology. No doubt, there are many public, staff, and Sea Org who have been silenced. Family members who were never members have also been silenced.

Sometimes, this silencing occurs after the person first signs a pre written statement renouncing what he or she had said or written earlier, such as L. Ron Hubbard Jr.

Jon Zegel went a step further and recorded a tape (tape #4) of retractions.

Some, such as Marty Rathbun, seem to have quietly agreed to an arrangement, with Scientology Inc., to attack critics of Scientology while writing defenses of Scientology Inc. that would not be out of place in Scientology Inc.'s Freedom Magazine. To be fair, Marty's situation is yet to be definitively determined.

So there are many variations.

The point is there are - realistically - hundreds, possibly thousands, of people who have, through various means, been gagged, or silenced, by Scientology. Many agreed to this under great pressure, and to protect their families.

Often, such people are of high character and were simply caught in a bind.

While some of these agreements have the power of the legal system behind them, others do not and - like "freeloaders' debts" - derive their power only from the person having been deceived.

IMO, if a list of such people could be made it would be startling.

And wouldn't it be wonderful if those silenced could once again speak freely?

Highly Commended

Terril Park (aka BB)

Terril Park is highly commended for his ongoing tireless efforts in bringing the Freezone and LRH technology to Anon and the world.

Terril carries out a never ending campaign to enlighten the anon group on the basics of the philosophy and technology and seeks to help them separate the technology out from the official church management and their draconian policies.

Despite being attacked on occasion and even banned from forums, Terril still continues to keep his TRs in and patiently and with compassion, pursue his work in bringing the philosophy and technology to anyone regardless of the consequences.

He has attended anon demonstrations and actively put the Freezone there as an alternative for the church, talking to people and explaining what the freezone and the philosophy and technology are and how they can be used.

Terril is to be highly commended and acknowledged for the outstanding work he has done.

It is hard to understand unless you have seen it or experienced it for yourself, but disturbed spiritual entities can cause everything from unbreakable compulsions, free floating anxieties, pains in all parts of the body, the appearance of multiple personalities, to persisting illness and emotional suffering of great magnitude. This can also include mysterious voices and hallucinatory images. Once the source is spotted and handled, relief is generally quite sudden.

In too many cases, I have been the first person who has been willing to understand what this client has been trying to communicate. Trained professional psychotherapists and life coaches do not always understand that a client can see, feel and hear things that the therapist thinks are imaginary.

For those of you who are familiar with Scientology, I am producing all of the results that can be obtained from the OT levels and the Ls and I deliver them safely to people right off the street.

Scientology has Declared Lois Reisdorf and her husband Suppressive Persons

The Church of Scientology has Declared Lois Reisdorf and her husband Suppressive Persons. Her youngest son is Scientology Disconnected.

As indicated by the title, the following article addresses much more than Scientology Suppressive Person Doctrine and Disconnection, and should be read in full. I will excerpt only some material concerning the Scientology Suppressive Person and Disconnection Orders.
Mike Rinder: Fleecing The Sheeple:omg:

http://ift.tt/2euGMPJ

* * * * * BEGIN EXCERPT * * * * *

This article is written by Lois (Jory) Reisdorf. She was one of the original Commodore’s Messengers aboard the Apollo, and I have known her and her husband Gary since being shipmates together back in the 70’s. They left the Sea Org in the 80’s, raised 3 boys and were off anyone’s radar screen. Scientology managed, as it so often does, to poke the sleeping lioness and steal one of her cubs. More on that story will be forthcoming, along with some fascinating insights into the early days of the Sea Org and L. Ron Hubbard and on up through the rise of David Miscavige. For now, this will serve as an introduction to Lowie (as she has always been affectionately known), who with her South African heritage (and still the slightest of accents), red hair and fierce protectiveness has always evoked images of a lioness in my mind.

FLEECING THE SHEEPLE

This is a story of how the Church fleeces it’s sheeple into donating towards buildings. There are many stories I have to tell about my life and what has happened to us and they will come out slowly, but due to the recent post of the Valley OTC Minutes, I just had to get this story out as it is so apropos.

To make a long story very short, I am a 2nd generation ex-Scientologist and hence 2 of my sons became 3rd generation Scion’s. However this happened to them later in life — in their 20’s — as I did not bring them up as Scion’s, it happened due to certain circumstances and these stories will come out. Our eldest son never got involved.

Our youngest son has disconnected from all of us in the family and we have not heard from him in almost 2 years. At this point he is a lost cause. However our middle son was also involved and luckily for us we managed to get him out and that is also another story in and of itself, which will come out later, however I want to recount the fleecing he experienced:

My husband and I were finally declared in January of this year and luckily our middle son was realizing what he was involved with and basically told the ethics officer to F….off when they wanted him to disconnect from us. He was staff at our local org. He worked madly at the org and also endured over 800 hours of the new SRD (Survival Rundown), so he was basically there all day and evenings. He lived at home and we supported him and made sure we did not discourage him from being at the org, as we did not want to lose him……from 2012 onwards it has been an anxious time for us.

This volume was compiled by staff of the Church of Scientology of California, based on the works of L Ron Hubbard and Archives of Church of Scientology California.

Lafayette Ronald Hubbard (1911-1986), better known as L Ron Hubbard and often referred to by his initials, LRH, was an American author and the founder of the Church of Scientology. After establishing a career as a writer, he becoming best known for his science fiction and fantasy stories, in 1950 he developed a self-help mental health system called Dianetics, which was first expounded in book form. He subsequently developed these ideas into a wide-ranging set of spiritual doctrines and practical applicable processes for spiritual enhancement, as part of a new religion called Scientology. His writings became the guiding texts for the Church of Scientology and a number of affiliated organizations that address such diverse topics as business administration, literacy, and drug and crime rehabilitation.

Hubbard once remarked: "There are only two tests of a life well lived. Did one do as one intended? And were people glad one lived?"

In testament to the first stands the full body of his life's work, including the more than 5,000 writings and 3,000 tape-recorded lectures. In evidence of the second are the tens of millions of individuals whose lives have been demonstrably bettered because he lived. There are more than 3 million children now reading because of Hubbard's educational discoveries; there are millions of men and women freed from substance abuse through Hubbard's breakthroughs in drug rehabilitation; there are more than 50 million who have been touched by his nonreligious moral code, 'The Way to Happiness'; and there are many millions more who hold his work to be the spiritual cornerstone of their lives. Interesting trip to the Chiro today...questions on

Hello all, first time here...

Had an intersting trip to the Chiropractor today and thought I'd ask a question...

I've been seeing this Chiro for sometime and for some reason we got on the topic of the "Going Clear" documentry and book.

He then mentioned that he had had several run-ins with Scientology and specifically Dr. David Singer and his asscoiates over the years at chiro seminars and also direct contact as they were trying to get him to align with their business model.

Even more interesting, he mentioned he had known the Singer family and that they had kids that ran in the same friend circles, warning that my own kids have common connections/friends in the LA area. Obviously we talk. He didnt get into specifics but kind of gave the vibe that I should look out and give them a heads up to stay away.

Anybody familiar with the family or children? Apparently they are pretty rooted in the church. He belived the family was now in Florida but the kids were in LA. Don't want to jump to conclusions but just looking out for my own family as you all can surely understand...Wondering if there is any reason to be any more concerned with them? Don't see a problem in asking but let me know if I'm wrong.

Many thanks

Movie Review - Jack Reacher: Never Look Back (SPOILERS).

In the most challenging role of his long film career, Tom Cruise gives an Oscar worthy performance as a man who cares about the girl who he believes is, or at least might be, his daughter.

Playing a character that is obviously far more challenging, far more of a stretch, and clearly less realistic than his prior roles as a vampire, samurai, spy, naval aviator, and rock star, Cruise abandons the girl only after he learns she is not his daughter.

As a result, there is strong buzz that THIS will be the role that earns Cruise his first Academy Award.

Scientology statement re Religious Freedom supports blasphemy laws and liability

Scientology statement re Religious Freedom supports blasphemy laws and liability.

The Church of Scientology has created a new website, Scientology Religion:
Code:

http://ift.tt/1pzxmPL
The Church of Scientology has also created a new website and pamphlet, "What is Religious Freedom - Know Your Rights":
Code:

http://ift.tt/2dSWwuY
The pamphlet and website "What is Religious Freedom - Know Your Rights" are very well done and, quite frankly, very well argued. They rely largely (but not entirely) on Universal Declaration of Human Rights and International Bill of Human Rights.

The website and pamphlet go on, however, to propose a very troubling "Charter on Journalistic Ethics in Relation to Respect for Religion or Belief." The Charter would support the imposition of blasphemy laws, and/or civil or perhaps even criminal liability for journalists and others who publish "denigrating references to religious beliefs and spiritual values."

Please note there is already strong support for such restrictions on freedom of speech and restrictions on "denigrating references to religious beliefs and spiritual values" in the United Nations, largely coming from Muslim nations but also conservatives Hindus, Buddhists, etc. Indeed, I suspect may Christians in the U.S. would not be opposed.

This is another example of the Church of Scientology playing the long game. This is important.

The troubling sections are excerpted below. First comes the set-up (indeed, the entire preceding document serves as set-up), and then the Charter.

Rising Social Hostility Against Religion in the Media

The Pew Research Center global study on the rising tide of restrictions on religions finds that approximately five billion people, 75 percent of the world’s population, live in countries with high government restrictions on religion or high social hostilities involving religion, which often target religious minorities. [41]

There is no question that the media — all forms of the press, including print, audiovisual and electronic media — constitute a major cause for this high social hostility targeting religious groups throughout the world. The instances where some religion is the target of propaganda, bias, stereotyping, misconception, misunderstanding and incitement to hatred in the press in countries across the globe have become legion.

The episode in 2005 regarding the publication of cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammed and the subsequent violent reactions across the Islamic world raised the attention of the global community to the misunderstandings and lack of information within the media on matters relating to religion and belief. Yet bias and misinformation in the press continue to be a scourge, fostering religious discrimination and fueling hostility toward targeted faiths. [42]

No universal set of principles, rules or standards in this critical area regarding the depiction of religion or belief by the media currently exists. Without clear articulation of such principles and standards, there is no effective means to gauge whether news reports violate universal human rights standards while engendering discrimination or even violence targeting individuals due to their religious association.

The time has come to articulate a set of standards, based upon the human rights principles that make up the right to freedom of religion, to guide the media in the area of religion or belief. To address this pressing need, a proposed Charter on Journalistic Ethics in Relation to Respect for Religion or Belief (“Charter”) is contained in the next section as a tool to educate the media on the right to religious freedom and establishing proper standards for religious tolerance in reporting on religious matters.

This Charter was created by taking into account over forty national journalistic ethics codes, more than three hundred professional journalist codes, and the relevant documents articulating OSCE, Council of Europe and UN standards that are contained in this publication. The Charter takes into account the paramount principles of freedom of expression and freedom of religion and attempts to strike an appropriate balance that preserves both of these fundamental freedoms.

The public’s right to information is a fundamental right and cornerstone of a free and democratic society. Thus the media exercises an essential role in the society that requires a great sense of responsibility to the public. Freedom of speech, freedom of information and freedom of the press represent the heart of democracy. A free, independent media is critical to ensure transparency and an open and robust democratic society; it is instrumental to the development and strengthening of effective democratic systems.

A responsible media recognizes the vital necessity of the free flow of information and the impact it has on shaping public perception. It is mindful of its ethical responsibility to the public and its need to respect and defend human rights.

A responsible media has the right and the duty to report and to comment on all matters of public interest with respect to the rights and freedoms of individuals and institutions. It advances understanding and participation in the democratic process for all.

A responsible media freely expresses personal or group opinions within the limits of the pluralistic contest of ideas. It accepts that freedom of expression may be subject to restrictions and limitations when other fundamental rights are endangered. It takes special care to not violate other fundamental human rights and takes individuals’ rights to privacy, honor and dignity into account while fostering the free flow of information.

A responsible media respects prevailing ethical and moral standards and avoids pandering to the lurid or profane.

A responsible media fosters the public’s right to know and right to freedom of expression. It aims at promoting the free flow of information and transparency, and adheres to the principles promoting and upholding respect for human dignity and religious beliefs as reflected in the United Nations Resolution Combating Defamation of Religions.

A responsible media strives for peace, democracy, social progress and respect for human rights. It recognizes, respects and defends diversity of opinion. It opposes discrimination based on any grounds.

A responsible media makes earnest efforts to reduce ignorance, promote greater understanding, alleviate cultural and religious insensitivity among peoples, and facilitate dialogue among nations.

A responsible media ensures that the display and dissemination of images complies with the same requirements and the highest ethical standards as for written or oral presentations.

3. RELIGIOUS DISCRIMINATION AND ETHICAL ACCOUNTABILITY

A responsible media serves as a watchdog to safeguard fundamental rights. It does not, therefore, fuel or engender discrimination based on ethnicity, religion, cultural traditions or similar grounds. It recognizes and respects diversity and minority rights.

A responsible media avoids discriminatory or denigrating references to religious beliefs and spiritual values.
A responsible media does not refer to religions or religious institutions in a prejudicial, biased or pejorative context; when religious references are essential to the reported matter or facilitate understanding, they are made accurately, fairly, impartially and respectfully.

A responsible media refrains from reinterpreting, misinterpreting, analyzing, assessing or examining religious beliefs or the expression of these beliefs. Instead, it maintains a strict duty of neutrality and objectivity—accepting what the religion puts forward as its true beliefs without disapproval, contempt, condescension, bias or ridicule.

A responsible media does not intrude on sacred matters relating to creed, religious rites and religious institutions. It refrains from encouraging or instigating discrimination, derision, scorn or hatred based on religion or belief.

A responsible media provides a fair and prompt opportunity for reply to inaccuracies and stereotypes regarding religious organizations or affected members when reasonably called for.

A responsible media avoids religious stereotyping and does not associate any religion or belief with human rights violations or terrorism.

A responsible media balances fundamental human rights, including the right to be free from discrimination based on religion or belief, with the right to freedom of expression and the public’s right to know. It shows special sensitivity when dealing with religious issues to avoid any distinction, exclusion, restriction or preference based on religion or belief that has as its purpose the nullification or impairment of human rights.

4. INCITEMENT AND ETHICAL ACCOUNTABILITY

A responsible media never promotes religious hatred. It scrupulously avoids engendering hostility toward religions and their members likely to lead to imminent violence or systematic deprivation of human rights.

A responsible media refrains from provoking aggression, hatred, discrimination and any form of violence directed at individuals and organizations because of their religious beliefs and association. It remains alert to the grave danger associated with condoning or encouraging violence, discrimination, hatred and intolerance on religious grounds.

A responsible media eschews inciting foreseeable violence, inflaming hatred, stigmatizing religions and their followers, and engendering inequality on grounds of religion or belief. It is sensitive to avoid affronting religious beliefs and contributing to conflicts between religions and their members due to religious differences.

New episodes of “Twin Peaks” won’t air on Showtime until next year, but series co-creator Mark Frost‘s new novel, “The Secret History of Twin Peaks,” published earlier this week, should give the cult series’ fans more than enough to chew over in the meantime.

The book, which Frost wrote while series co-creator David Lynch was directing new episodes, isn’t a classically constructed novel. Rather, it takes the form of a case file in which an FBI agent picks over an exhaustive dossier compiled by a mysterious character called “The Archivist,” who tries to hone in on why Twin Peaks, Wash., has been the home to bizarre occurrences over the years. “I wanted it to be more than just a book,” says Frost, 62. “I wanted it to be an experience.”

In Frost’s vision, the mythology of “Twin Peaks” stretches far beyond that eerie, wooded patch of the Pacific Northwest, tying in UFOs and secret societies, as well as historical figures like Lewis and Clark, Jet Propulsion Laboratory co-founder and occultist Jack Parsons, and Richard Nixon. As much as Frost added to the mythology, though, the author took care to stop the dossier’s narrative right around when the original incarnation of the show concluded in 1991.

“To go further at this point would intrude in areas that might give stuff away about the series,” Frost says.

L. Ron Hubbard comes up, too. In Hollywood, is it as tough to take a shot at Scientology these days?

No, I think the bubble has kind of been burst. Remember years ago, there was a famous incident, they left a rattlesnake in somebody’s mailbox. It’s a classic cult. I think Alex Gibney‘s film ["Going Clear"] completely took the cover off, and the Laurence Wright book. To me, he was the latest iteration of that theme we start from the very beginning of the book. He’s conspiratorial, he’s secretive, he claims to have mysteries when really all he’s doing is creating a vaccuum into which he can pull power. He was obviously a sociopath himself. So, I felt, thematically, it was a really good fit. I have a friend that works at [Jet Propulsion Laboratory], so I learned about the Jack Parsons story years ago, and I thought this was a really good chapter to bring ["Twin Peaks" character and novel protagonist] Doug Milford into. It’s the bridge between Project Blue Book and Richard Nixon, and the House Un-American Activities Committee. All of it is part and parcel of that strain of conspiratorial thinking and paranoid power grabbing, so that felt like a natural progression in the American history we recounted here.

Why do I offer a free session? It’s because you can read about something and think it sounds really interesting, but actually contacting spiritual beings in your first session is something you may not have done before. Once you experience the thrill of having a spiritual entity put thoughts into your head and carry on a conversation with you, you should be ready to find out what is really going on with your life and take charge of your future again. At that point we can discuss whether you should arrange for additional SRT counseling sessions.

I would like to help you as I have helped many others. Take me up on my offer and see if we can make you achieve your goal of living happily again.

Is it Worthwhile to Speak Out Publicly in Your Own Name as an Ex-Scientologist?

Would you? Did you? Do you still? Why or Why Not?

If so, did you receive support from the ex-community, or did you find it made you a public figure and more subject to criticism, even within the ex-community?

Do you think views and attitudes toward exscns who have publicly come forward have changed? If so, how/when/why?

I'd really like to know your opinion on this. Thanks.

Scientology National Affairs Office signs letter re religious freedom in Vietnam

Scientology National Affairs Office signs letter regarding religious freedom in Vietnam.

When I cross-post about a civil rights letter signed by the Church of Scientology National Affairs Office, I usually say the letter is not about the substantive issue, but is instead about the Church of Scientology building relationships, creating alliances, and establishing its bona fides as an organization concerned about civil rights. While the below letter certainly helps the Church of Scientology in these areas, the church also obviously has an interest in the substantive issue.

Expect an announcement that the Tech has been translated into Vietnamese.

The original letter is in Vietnamese. The excerpt is by Google translation.

Open letter

To: The Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam
on the draft Law of Vietnam on Belief and Religion
Dear Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan
Vietnam National Assembly Chairman
22 Hung Vuong Street,
Ba Dinh, Hanoi

Madam President of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan,

We, the civil society organizations here, in this letter to express our concerns about the proposed Law of Faith and Religion in Vietnam. The draft law, which has been amended several times and the religious community has launched several powerful critics, Congress is expected to approve a law to vote in the meeting in May 10-11, 2016.

The latest draft was discussed in a high-level meeting of the National Front of the Communist Party on 17 August, and moved to a number of religious communities to consult. Survey on the draft law published on Parliament's website shows that the bill includes 9 chapters with some improvements, but still maintains the unacceptable restriction of the right to freedom of religion or belief and other human rights. Specifically, the fundamental rights of freedom of religion or belief continues to decline because of difficulties requires registration and excessive interference of the state in the internal affairs of religious organizations.

Indeed, this version and the previous version has inherited the rules and regulations previously focused on the control and management of the government's activities and operating on religion; contrary to the spirit and principles of the freedom of religion and belief.
As mentioned above, the draft was sent to a number of religious communities to consult. However, a component Catholics protested about the short term, in the range from 18 to 30 August, not enough time so that they can review and comment on draft nay1. Moreover some independent religious groups not registered with the government, as the Unified Buddhist Church of Vietnam Reunification, was not consulted.

There have been some improvements in this bill received, including provisions on the right to change the religion of an individual, as well as follow or not to follow any religion, the rights of some prisoners "used its books on religion and express religious beliefs or their ", and the right of religious organizations to participate in activities such as education, vocational training, medical care and social assistance and human knife.

However, the following recommendations are addressed by the special concerns raised by religious communities in Vietnam, and we, the undersigned organizations share the concern that:

1. The definition of a religion must be interpreted in accordance with Article 18 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR).

In the current draft, a religious organization is defined as "a group of people ... have been recognized by the government" (emphasis) (Article 2.13). This makes the members of the religious organization can not, or choose not to register with the government will fall into legal difficulties, they will not be protected by law for religious activities .

2. Register with the government can not be seen as a prerequisite for the exercise of freedom of religion and belief.

The registration process onerous and complex requires government approval for religious activities, the administration and the legal status of an organization. The warranties set out in Article 18 of the ICCPR is independent of, and not be bound by the conditions of the procedure, because domestic posed about notification, permission, recognition or registration.

3. Law not allow government officials to arbitrarily intervene in the internal affairs of religious organizations.

Provisions in this law allows the authorities to intervene too much in the internal affairs related to decisions, appointment, training, teaching and programs set by the religious organizations. Restricting the freedom of expression of religion and belief should never be exceeded or purpose permitted scope of Article 18 (3) of the ICCPR. As the Special Report of the United Nations on Freedom of Religion or Belief, Dr. Heiner Bielefeltd, said after a visit to Vietnam in 2014, "... registration can be considered as a proposal of state rather than a mandatory legal requirement. "

4. Language vague and discriminatory nature should be eliminated.

The draft law has vague language of "values ??and cultural traditions nice" (Article 10.1) and "divisive" (Article 5.4), the language can be used to discriminate with ethnic minorities and indigenous, independent groups and people with religious beliefs are considered "alien" (Article 2:12).

5. The regulations should be in place to establish the legal channels and mechanisms to help people file a complaint, and the complaint should be investigated and processed independently of the allegations in connection violations relating to the freedom of religion or belief.

For these reasons, we strongly urge that the draft law should be amended, in consultation with representatives of religious communities, including religious communities are not recognized, and professionals part of international human rights law, to ensure that laws protect freedom of religion or belief in accordance with Article 18 of the international Covenant on Civil and Political rights.

We are very eager to get response from Ms Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam on this important issue.
