Rathbun Attempts To Defend David Miscavige

Marty is more coherent than usual in this long blog while he attempts to defend David Miscavige from his father Ron. It's almost as if someone were paying him to do so:

snip:

When Ron later told me that he was in the process of inking a deal with St Martins Press to publish a tell-all about his son, he went out of his way to inform me that his change of heart about attacking his son had nothing to do with the wide circulation of the scandalous PI story. I told him that was a good thing for him. Since he had acknowledged to me that Mike Rinder was part of his advisory team, I told Ron that I assumed that Mike informed him that the accusation about David instructing the private investigator is in fact “provable bullshit.”

It appears the controversial Church of Scientology may be widening its recruitment in Ireland to people in the Gaeltacht (Irish-speaking areas) and other Irish-speakers throughout the country with attempts made by a sub-company of the church to translate their educational and information supplements into Irish.

According to Tuairisc.ie, the subcompany – Golden Era Productions – recently wrote to a number of Irish translators looking for people qualified and interested in reproducing their programs in Irish.

“In addition to the many languages we already provide we will also now be making our materials available in Gaelic and thus we are looking for qualified and interested translators,” the company wrote.

A notable number of the highest-profile immunization dissenters are Scientologists, from Masterson and Juliette Lewis to Jenna Elfman and Kirstie Alley. In a statement to THR, the Church of Scientology, which has a troubled public relationship with many established mental health treatments, insists it “takes no position one way or the other on this issue.” (Tabloid stories were written after the death of church member John Travolta’s 16-year-old son Jett, who was said to have been improperly treated for autism.) Yet Scientology did host a June 2015 event at one of its Los Angeles community centers where issue activists Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and biochemist Brian Hooker, Ph.D., promulgated their views ahead of California Gov. Brown’s signing of SB 277 weeks later.

Ex-Scientologist critics observe that a mistrust of immunization, while not official doctrine, is an unsurprising consequence of members’ credence for the principles surrounding the church’s controversial cleansing “purification rundown” program, which allegedly treats drug abuse and toxic exposure. “In that school of thought, vaccines could potentially be hurtful too,” says Claire Headley. In addition, they note, members find familiarity and even righteousness in the experience of holding lonely, lambasted views. “Smugness is an understatement,” says Spanky Taylor. “It’s an arrogance.”

How Hollywood Stars, Trump and Scientologists Flame the Vaccine Wars: "It's Spurious But Effective"

Quote:

Despite a new state law intended to reduce the ranks of unimmunized students in California schools, the battle against public health experts continues — fueled by the very public efforts of A-listers like Robert De Niro and Jim Carrey, contemporary torch bearers in the discredited-but-unrelenting anti-vaccination campaign begun by Jenny McCarthy.

Throughout Southern California, kids are heading back to school, the time of year in which the childhood immunization debate hits full boil, uniting everyone from Scientologists and Donald Trump to A-list stars like Robert De Niro and Jim Carrey against stalwart scientific consensus. Thanks in large measure to the efforts of Hollywood heavyweights to keep alive widely discredited views, say medical experts, a potential public health crisis continues to loom.

scientology question

hi, I really hope you can help. My son is more or less a scientologist. he does not seem to be active but often sees things as attacks.

I have not seen him in over 7 years. I finally got to see him and meet my 8 month old grandbaby and the baby's mom. The baby and mom-not scientologist were great. Son was a beast. I think he was determinedly trying to alienate us. he has already alienated her parents.

Anyway one of the things at the beginning was that I am decrepit and pathetic. This is because i did not read a scientology booklet 12 years ago when circumstances and my husband lost me my house. My husband has since realized that you can not make up for lack of money by gambling to get more. Anyway, nearly 5 years ago I was diagnosed with a thymoma, cancer in the chest- thymus gland. very rare, currently about 3000 in the world. no relation to anything. I almost died, my husband was there day and night, made sure every need was met, even if he had to do it personally. I discovered what a good spouse truly is, I know my son's father would have stayed for that. Long story short, presumed mistakes on surgeons part and radiation along with a billion types of xray, etc has made me lose 10% + of my left lung. right lung is dead so i live on 40% lung capacity, always on oxygen, get shakes etc. My son said that if i had read a pamphlet i would be divorced and not have had the same results. can someone help me understand. I know it is not truly true. i would be dead if hubby had not been there. i am positive my son would not take care of me. i really need help to formulate an answer. thank you very much.

In Garden Grove, for example, running in the 3rd District this election cycle is a man named Clay Bock.

[SNIP]

We sent an email to Clay yesterday asking him about his Facebook campaign page. Thanks to Bunker reader Intergalactic Walrus, we learned that Clay’s campaign page contains nothing about his years of extensive work for Scientology’s rabid anti-psychiatry front, the Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR).

Clay’s a longtime Scientologist. The church’s own publications indicate that Clay went Clear as long ago as 1980, and that he was working his way through the OT levels a decade ago.

Not that there’s anything wrong with a Scientologist running for office. Sonny Bono was a US Congressman, for example.

But we figure the voters of Garden Grove’s Third District might want to know before casting their vote that Clay has been so active with CCHR, Scientology’s most unhinged front group.

We haven’t heard back from Clay, but here’s a video he shot and posted just three months ago after attending a CCHR protest in Atlanta in May.

Hello. I don't have quite a lot to spend (within $100 at the very most), but I'm looking for a cheap E-meter I could practice solo clearing with. It can be real, it can be virtual, it can be old, it can be new. Currently have experience in Book 1, The Pilot's SC manual, and TROM. Just something someone is willing to part with so a freezoner could learn with. Thanks :)

OT -- The Missing Ingredient

A lot of us have sought to gain "supernatural" powers -- telekinesis, clairvoyance, ESP -- only to find it hasn't happened. Why not? I've decided there is a missing ingredient.

In every popular movement, there has been one or a few "leaders" who seem to be able to walk on water. Members ooh an aah as the guru performs amazing feats. Yet when they try to accomplish the same, doing everything the organization asks of them, they can't do it. Why not?

There is a missing ingredient, and the missing ingredient is worship. When you are worship someone, you lend some of your "core energy" to them. This then makes them more powerful, powerful enough to accomplish minor (or not so minor) miracles.

In any group intending to raise its members up into higher states, the more successful they are, the more worship the leader(s) get. This worship becomes addictive; the temptation is there to make helping the group secondary to just getting more and more worship. I'm sure you're thinking of the same example I am right now (hip, hip, hooray!)

I'll write more on this tomorrow.

Slappy does Sydney again !!!

As reported by Mike Rinder a few days ago, the Drunken Maggot will be yanking His ribbon at Chatswood next Sunday (on Fathers Day - oh the irony given what His dad has written about Him) to open the "new" facility at Chatswood on Sydney's North Shore.:puke:

Personally I have something far more important to attend - my son's soccer team are playing their grand final that morning over the other side of the lake so sorry OSA but I won't be there. Thought I'd save you the trouble of having a "friend" ring me to ask how I'm doing, what am I up to, etc etc ad nauseum.:roflmao:

The actual event starts at 12 and the doors open at 10 for the Faithful to enter via Greville Street - the $5 mill bus stop STILL hasn't been completed so the cult will have to bus the sheeple in via Greville Street methinks. An excellent place for Placard Tech to be employed. If any Sydanons are lurking - it's over to you.:coolwink:

I know that the minions are still frantically trying to get everything done to get the place ready - good luck with your impossible deadlines, SO members. You might get to get some sleep after Slappy McSavage gets back on His private jet to jump the Pacific to "home." :bigcry:

I do know that there is quite a scramble to get peeps to show up for this event - someone who's been labelled as "badly disaffected" was being covertly sounded out just a few days ago to see if they were invite material.:dieslaughing:

Yes OSA ANZO, I still have peeps who contact me to tell me of your latest :footbullet::footbullet::footbullet:

It's a beautiful day here at home so the son and myself are going to work in the yard for the day. We've all just had a delightful breakfast cooked by Caz and the day beckons.

FUCK YOU, OSA ANZO !!!

Enjoy the rest of your week trying to get Chatswood ready for the Diminutive Madman.

Your Purple Hearts will tell on you...

Gerry responded to an article yesterday in the Belleville News-Democrat: Iraq War veteran lied his way to a Purple Heart and $750,000 (August 26, 2016).

Quote:

Darryl Lee Wright, lied his way to a Purple Heart. What a piker! L. Ron Hubbard, also a lieutenant, but in the US Naval Reserve, lied his way to TWO.

Wright didn’t stop with a Purple Heart, but also lied his way to a Combat Action Badge. That’s nothing! Hubbard didn’t stop with two Purple Hearts. He lied his way to OVER TWENTY more medals he never earned.

In truth, Hubbard wasn’t even awarded his medals. At least Wright did enough and was honest enough to actually be awarded his unearned medals.

Wright got his medals for phony actions and wounds in a place he had really served in, Iraq. Hubbard obtained medals for wartime service in countries he had never even been to, France, the Netherlands, Britain, the Philippines, and a medal for whole continents he had never seen, the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, plus a Bronze Star. Wright got his unearned medals in the mail from the proper issuing authority. Hubbard bought his from some poor veteran, or some pawn shop. Or he stole them from some vet.

To support his efforts to acquire his medals and money, Wright apparently submitted a photo of a damaged combat vehicle where he claimed to have been wounded. The bad black and white photo in the Washington Post looks like a HMMWV of one version or another. Fail! Hubbard claimed to have been on board the USS Edsall when the Japanese attacked and sunk it near Java in 1942. He claimed at different times that his legs were injured in the battle, he then swam ashore, lived alone in the jungle for some time evading the Japanese, took a machine gun round in the back, then sailed a life raft to Australia where a destroyer picked him up. He also claimed to have sunk two Japanese submarines off Oregon, and just before the war to have tracked down a German saboteur in Alaska who was going to cut off its communication lines from the forty-eight states.

It isn’t clear from the reports I’ve read, including Justice Department statements, what injuries Wright lied about sustaining to claim his Purple Heart. They couldn’t possibly, however, be as serious as Hubbard’s fake injuries. He claimed to have been “crippled and blinded.” In fact he claimed his injuries were so severe that at war’s end he “was abandoned by family and friends as a supposedly hopeless cripple and a probable burden upon them for the rest of my days.”

The News-Democrat says, “The war story helped Wright bilk the federal government out of hundreds of thousands of dollars.” How frigging niggard! Hubbard scammed billions. Wright cheated the US Government that has trillions to waste. With his tall war stories, Hubbard not only snowed the government for a disability pension, he hustled and ripped off unsuspecting private citizens around the world, most of whom could not afford it, and many of whom he ruined utterly.

The prosecuting US Attorneys, according to the News-Democrat, wrote in their sentencing memorandum that Wright “built an entire myth system on these two awards.” That’s so picayune! Hubbard started a religion. The IRS gave his religion tax exemption, and the State Department defends his fraud-based religion internationally and condemns any country that dares to call Hubbard and his religion on their fraud.

There is no evidence I’ve found that Wright ever vilified or assaulted anyone who challenged his injury, Purple Heart or Combat Action Badge claims. What a wimp! Hubbard preached that anyone who criticized his claims was an enemy and a criminal, and he had his fraud church followers target these critics as what he called “fair game.” He stated in his scripture that such critics may be “deprived of property or injured by any means by any [church member] without any discipline… May be tricked, sued or lied to or destroyed. ”

I knew Hubbard personally. I read and listened to many of his claims of wartime injuries, medals and heroism, and I joined his religion in 1969. I believed his lies and gave him and his religious organization money and years of my life. Then I found and read a bunch of his documents he had hidden from church members like me, researched his history a bit, and determined he had lied. He had lied about things in his life that were significant to me, had drawn me into his religion, and had kept me there for years. He lied about his military career, his injuries, medals and his heroism. He stole valor galore.

Grey sludge and what is thought to be effluent (discharged sewage) has been building up occasionally in the stream, which runs parallel to West Hoathly Road just south of Saint Hill Road, since last autumn.

The police officers told Mango that the man’s name was John Joseph La Voie, age 63. Mark Plummer, the former Scientologist and longtime critic and archivist, tells Mango that La Voie at one time had been the “LRH Communicator Secretary” at the American Saint Hill Organization, one of the high-level course facilities at PAC base. One listing in a Scientology publication indicates that La Voie has been in the church at least since 1981.

“He was claiming that he did hit me but that it was an accident. But twenty minutes later he walked straight up to me and karate chopped my arm. That is no accident.” Mango says. Security video of the first encounter did show the man knocking into Mango, but the officers told him that they couldn’t tell from the camera angle if it had been “malicious.”

“They said if they had seen him laugh and smirk about the body check, they would arrest him. But the camera wasn’t positioned that way,” he says.

Mango says his shoulder still hurts, and it’s painful for him to lift his arm. He’s going to have it looked at today, and he says he’s also going to talk to an attorney about filing suit.

The Scientology Media Productions studio was purchased to placate the IRS

The Scientology Media Productions studio was purchased to placate the IRS.

The LA Weekly has a long and very good article about Scientology Media Productions. Please read it all. I am going to highlight and excerpt only one small but very important part.

Please note Mike Rinder has previously explained that the Church of Scientology buys real estate in order to satisfy the IRS requirement that it not hoard money while still retaining the economic value of the purchased property. The IRS considers it appropriate for a tax-exempt church to spend money on real estate, buildings and facilities to serve its parishioners.

LA Weekly: What Is the Church of Scientology Doing With This Los Angeles Movie Studio?

http://ift.tt/2bhyhF0

* * * * * BEGIN EXCERPT * * * * *

BY HILLEL ARON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 24, 2016 AT 6:30 A.M.

[SNIP]

But according to former high-ranking Scientology officials who have either left the church or were expelled, there is one simple reason the church built its new studio: money.

For decades, the Internal Revenue Service considered Scientology to be a commercial enterprise, and taxed it as such. But in 1993, after a 25-year legal and political battle, the IRS reversed itself and granted the church 501(c)(3) status. As a result, Scientology pays little in taxes.

But in order to maintain its tax-free status, the church can't make a profit and can't hoard money. Tom De Vocht, who oversaw the church's real estate division until 2001 (and who left the church in 2005), says he was briefed by none other than Miscavige himself on Scientology's strategy of buying land as a way to spend and effectively store its cash.

We seek to not only defend historic European culture and identity but to avidly promote it. We seek to allow other people to live in peace in their homelands undisturbed by Zionist aggression and criminality. We strongly opposed the attacks on Libya and Syria, both which have opened the floodgates of weaponized migration.

Our approach to government is straightforward: Put it into the hands of outstanding personalities instead of non-entities and criminal hacks. The latter will be called out on these pages at every opportunity. If the Jews and Shabbos Goy in power were outstanding and the countries were doing well, you would have no quarrel from us: but that is not the reality. Their lopsided and negative influence needs to be replaced for poor performance and fraudulent agendas. It’s analogous to firing losing football coaches. Those who sound the alarm about powerful people opposing you and your right to defend your interests are often called reformers and progressives. Yet, if we told you who those powerful people are, many would call us “Nazis.” That said, there will be no 1488 or Shoah talk on this site. That is not the intention or the purpose of New Nationalism.

The Scientology Media Productions studio was purchased to please the IRS.

"They're not really advertising, not really reaching out," De Vocht says. "They don't pay anyone. The money's gotta go somewhere."

He adds: "We spent crazy money on renovations and purchases. Yearly, they took albums of photos of properties they purchased and renovated to IRS, to show what they were spending money on. That was a big driving factor."

It sort of loses its potency. It’s almost that the authoritarian dimension of Scientology and the way in which it demands total obedience from its followers is intrinsic to its ability to have an effect.”

After her handler left, Esme quietly googled "Master Tech" only to find her suspicions confirmed. And quickly glancing over the shoddy bookshelves in the dingy conference room, she saw many Scientology manuals. She googled the company and found out that they'd already been sued for both sexual discrimination and forced Scientology indoctrination conditional to continued employment.

[SNIP]

She explained the wall charts and Scientology materials made it very apparent. Then she asked "Do you insist on using Hubbard's management system?" They said they did and asked her what she objected to. Being a management specialist, Esme truthfully said "I find his concepts severely outdated and only workable in certain situations. His micromanaging is stifling and doesn't allow creativity."

One of the men said he's been brought into the organization specifically to make sure all of LRH's business model be institutionalized. He tried to explain that they'd gone back to the original materials and that was far superior than any modifications that had been made to the system since LRH had gone toes-up. He then asked what she specifically meant by creativity. She explained that she felt she would need to be creative in her sales pitches and, to his credit, he agreed that this was important.

But what Esme couldn't properly express was her knowledge (due to having been trapped before in a Scientologist-owned company) that it is a cruel and didactic system, run by petty dictators with incomplete knowledge. Where people skills and warmth are seen as unimportant. Where flogging employees and negative motivation were encouraged by LRH. Where constant, suffocating oversight is seen as the norm.

In the end they insisted that their particular interpretation of the Scientologist business model was somehow superior to whatever Esme had experienced in the past. They asked if she was offered a position there, would she agree to sign a waiver saying she understood they were using that system? Yes, Esme said, if it was truly as effective as they said, she'd have no problems with it. But she knew there would be problems and so did they.

She never heard from them again.

Tony Ortega: Trump is drawing comparisons to L. Ron, but will Hillary favor Scientology as much as Bill did?

http://ift.tt/2bIJK1B

* * * * * BEGIN CONCLUSION * * * * *

So we’re left with this: There’s simply no doubt that Bill Clinton proved to be a reliable friend to Scientology when he was in power, and even provided aid to Tom Cruise after he’d left office. He also left behind a legacy of lending the State Department’s help to keep an eye on how Scientology is being treated around the world which continues to the present day.

However, despite that State Department helping hand, under President Barack Obama federal investigations of Scientology were launched by both the FBI and by Homeland Security — although both investigations ultimately went nowhere.

Under President Hillary Clinton, what are the chances that the IRS or FBI will launch probes into a now much weakened Church of Scientology? We just don’t know at this point whether she will be the friend to David Miscavige’s organization that her husband was.

We tried to ask her campaign where she stands on a controversial group that has been exposed for using child labor, forcing abortions, and keeping Americans in prison-like conditions under the name of religion. We got no response. We hope other reporters may have better luck.

Hello everyone,

Firstly, thank you for allowing me to join the board - it's lovely to meet you all. My name is Benjamin Allen and I am a film-maker based in Bristol, England. I am currently putting together a feature-length documentary on Scientology and I am looking for some former Scientologists to volunteer to be interviewed for my film.

I completely appreciate that some of you may wish to remain anonymous so I am happy to offer 100% confidentiality and anonymity if you would like to be involved in my project. However, it would be fantastic to be able to interview some people who don't mind having their voice/face on film.

I will be as accommodating as you need as I appreciate that this could be a very sensitive subject for many.

If if you are interested (and located in England, ideally), please feel free to reply to this thread or get in touch with me via hi@benjaminallenmedia.com.

Again, thank you very much.

Bullshit Apologists for Scientology in Academia

I ran across this info concerning "correcting the "mis-information" spread by Scientology commenters such as Russell Miller, Jon Atack, et al. :melodramatic:

Having received information from those who were actually aboard the Scotman/Apollo in the Med and knowing the scene that had to be handled by the GO at the time, I could see the false bullshit of the apologist who wrote chapter 19 of the linked book who, is either a shill for the CofS or, his level of "research" and facts gathering was simply limited to the tripe covered in Scientology organizational "press handouts"!

What a poseur . . .

You folks who have the interest and time might care to point out the gross misrepresentation of facts the author of the book put into his “Chapter 19” . . . what is obvious is that he got his data from the CofS . . . not from any reliable sources.

For the first time, learn the truth about what *really* happened to LRH and the Sea Org at Corfu, Greece, in 1968 and early 1969. Find out who really was behind it, and why. Liars such as Russell Miller and Jon Atack wrote a false, fictional "history" to twist, omit, and hide crucial facts—because that was exactly their jobs. Now you can know the facts.

Scientology, L Ron Hubbard and the "tech" of NEVER APOLOGIZING

I always thought it was strange that Scientologist's and Scientology NEVER apologizes...and typically attack anyone they have harmed.

L Ron Hubbard even wrote "TECH" on it - "Never apologize".

I did not agree with that nor did I ever practice it.

Did anyone else think this was strange?

This is the "Anti-Social" Personality...the SOCIOPATH!

Scientology, Inc is a Sociopath and it creates anti-personalities. Scientologist's are in my experience - Arrogant, uncaring, unfeeling people.

#9) Sociopaths never apologize. They are never wrong. They never feel guilt. They can never apologize. Even if shown proof that they were wrong, they will refuse to apologize and instead go on the attack.

FLAG stats - personal observation

My wife and I haven't been to Flag since 2008 prior to when we were promoted to SP status in spring of 2009. In 2003 and 4 we got on to OT 7 and the place was hopping, but my personal observation was the dwindling in the OT6 meter / drilling rooms, as well as behind the double doors.

My wife's first question, which I am posting on her behalf, is - what are the stats - has it continued to dwindle? She would appreciate and observation of people having been there 2010 on.

Her second question - would they allow persons on OT6-7 etc if they have disabilities, such as wheel chairs, oxygen tanks, walkers. Have you seen any in that condition at Flag? We recall a very frustrated OT, an elderly woman from England on OT 7 whose short term memory loss was preventing her from passing the what to do drills. I imagine she felt doomed - if she couldn't recall how to run the process, how could she go ot7 and ot 8 and thus achieve her eternity?

Thanks

Mimsey

Narconon Arrowhead’s most recent 990 tax return, for 2014 (see below), paints a grim story.

Gross receipts that year were $4,117,845, a combination of gifts ($2,034,017) and sales of services ($2,044,407).

How did Narconon Arrowhead come up with $2 million in gifts? The answer is on another 990 tax form, the one submitted by Narconon’s Scientology umbrella organization, the Association for Better Living & Education (ABLE). In 2014, ABLE gave Arrowhead a “grant” of $1,879,286 for “general support.” Arrowhead’s remaining gift amount presumably came from other Scientology organizations. We can say that with some confidence based on precedent. In 2008, Scientology’s Social Betterment Properties International (SBPI) donated $180,000 to Narconon Arrowhead. Apparently, and for public relations reasons, David Miscavige cannot allow Narconon Arrowhead to become insolvent — it is, after all, the flagship of Narconon.

Arrowhead’s losses (revenues less expenses) for the year were $310,714. But that’s misleading. The real number, once you take away what was “gifted” to Arrowhead by ABLE to keep it afloat, is a real annual loss of at least $2,190,000. In other words, Scientology’s other groups had to prop up Narconon Arrowhead with $2 million in gifts so it would only show an annual loss of $310,714 in 2014. Of course, it is possible to work the numbers in different ways, but I am using very basic accounting. I welcome comments and analysis from the real numbers people here at the Bunker.

What I found most interesting about the linked article is not its contents, but that it was published in Jacobin magazine, which bills itself as "a leading voice of the American left, offering socialist perspectives on politics, economics, and culture." The magazine's "About" page contains blurbs from Noam Chomsky, Jennifer Schuessler for the New York Times, Chris Hayes, and Doug Henwood.

Don't get me wrong, the essay good. It just doesn't say anything that would be new to people here.

Not sure where to post this, but some are advocating LRH cleansing methods

I have been engrossed in this weird and frustrating discussion with a man on one of the many Tom Cruise videos, the infamous confrontation with Matt Lauer that has elicited some bizarre reactions. The individual defending Cruise as being a "nice guy" and is supposedly a Hollywood writer who has had only positive opinions of this man. When I asked this person whether he was aware of the atrocities of his cult and that Cruise has been aware of the child labour, the forced abortions, expensive gifts from Miscavige that required very low-paying Sea Org. Here is an excerpt of an article, Poison Begone, that credits Scientology with a niacin-based wonder drug of sorts:

[h=The dubious science behind the Scientologists' detoxification program for 9/11 rescue workers.]2[/h]By Amanda Schaffer

In September 2002, the New York Rescue Workers Detox Project began to offer free "detoxification treatment" to firefighters, police officers, and others exposed to high levels of toxic debris in the aftermath of the World Trade Center's collapse. The detox program—based on the teachings of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard and detailed in his book Clear Body, Clear Mind—purports to "flush" poisons from the body's fat stores using an intensive regimen of jogging, oil ingestion, sauna, and high doses of vitamins, particularly niacin. Funded largely by private donations—most notably from celebrity Scientologist Tom Cruise, as has been widely reported—treatment is provided at a clinic on Fulton Street in Manhattan as well as at a newer clinic on Long Island. Roughly 240 rescue workers and 80 downtown residents have undergone the program; most have paid nothing, although a few non-rescue workers have been asked to contribute $5,000 apiece.

TRs and The Ganzfeld Effect

TRs or “Training Routines” are introduced to people very early in their indoctrination into Scientology. These can involve sitting in front of another person (in dyads)

dyad |ˈdīad|
noun technical
something that consists of two elements or parts: the mother–child dyad.

for extended periods. Later, in higher levels of training “Hard TRs” are introduced which can take many hours over a period of days. People generally experience hallucinations consisting of facial distortions and ultimately a state of dissociation which is characterized as “Exteriorization” in Scientology. According to Scientology, a thetan or spirit can be partially or fully exterior from the body for brief or extended periods.

Scientology clearly capitalizes on this phenomena to inculcate people into its belief systems. It is a key component in the PR construct of a friendly neo-scientific-buddhist spiritual enlightenment based culture and Scientologists expend great effort, money and resources to cultivate an understanding and control over this phenomena. But they are strictly forbidden from studying or applying theories or practices from other fields such as psychology, parapsychology or religions which emulate or attempt to explain TRs and exteriorization and therefore self censor themselves into a closed Scientological viewpoint starting within the same study course where TRs are initially introduced.

In these following posts by Scicrit on Wordpress.com, an attempt is made to explain TR 0 and this phenomena. Links are embedded in the article to studies on the Ganzfeld Experiment which attempts to prove the existence of ESP using sensory deprivation. Of note: according to Hyman, conclusions from these experiments are still not adequate to prove ESP.

Of interest, Metzger was conducting experiments in 1930 which could have served as an inspiration and model to Hubbard for the integration of TRs into Scientology as a proselytizing gimmick 20 years before Dianetics.

From my own experience with TRs, I am very familiar with all of these phenomena and can vouch for the way they are described in the study on gazing in dyads. As the study indicates, more work could be done on studying the dissociative phenomena vs the visual facial hallucinations, however, I have yet to know of or experience a state of “Exteriorization” that can’t be explained as a physiological phenomena. Scientologists may claim that they can astral travel, remote view, read minds or use telekinesis but I’ve never seen these irrefutably demonstrated as abilities under controlled conditions.

Without the use of TRs to create a euphoric dissociative state in initiates and a calculated progression into a culture based on re-achieving this state, Scientology would probably have evolved along very different lines.

It may be possible that some degree of this mental state causes what is known as an FN "Floating Needle" on the e-meter. However, once the dissociative state has been achieved a person can develop it as a learned ability. It can be very expensive and burdensome to have to redo auditing or training if the e-meter doesn't FN, especially in Sec-Checks being used for security or disciplinary interrogation, so it should be considered that much of what people claim as completions and wins in Scientology may have been accomplished by skilled self triggering of the Ganzfeld effect.

In the 1930s, research by psychologist Wolfgang Metzger established that when subjects gazed into a featureless field of vision they consistently hallucinated and their electroencephalograms changed.
///
The Ganzfeld effect has been reported since ancient times. The adepts of Pythagoras retreated to pitch-black caves to receive wisdom through their visions,[7] known as the prisoner's cinema. Miners trapped by accidents in mines frequently reported hallucinations, visions and seeing ghosts when they were in the pitch dark for days. Arctic explorers seeing nothing but featureless landscape of white snow for a long time also reported hallucinations and an altered state of mind.[8]

In a 2007 review, Ray Hyman wrote that parapsychologists agree they have no positive theory of psi as it is negatively defined as any effect that cannot be currently explained in terms of chance or normal causes. Hyman saw this as a fallacy, as it encouraged parapsychologists to use any peculiarity in the data as a characteristic of psi. Hyman also wrote that parapsychologists have admitted it is impossible to eliminate the possibility of non-paranormal causes in the ganzfeld experiment. There is no independent method to indicate the presence or absence of psi.[15]
Until parapsychologists can provide a positive way to indicate the presence of psi, the different effect sizes that occur in experiments are just as likely to result from many different things rather than one thing called psi. Indeed given the obvious instability and elusiveness of the findings, the best guess might very well be that we are dealing with a variety of Murphy's Law rather than a revolutionary anomaly called psi.

At long last - (Miscavaige?) preparing TARGET TWO! (or Jonestown 2?)

CAN LRH's return be far away?:melodramatic:

http://ift.tt/2aXwIM7

Bob and Trish Duggan, a Silicon Valley couple with a net value of more than $3.2 billion dollars, recently got a sweet deal on their purchase of 142 acres of lush woodland off Highway 17....

Back in the 1920s, a man named William Riker bought the land and called it Holy City. Riker considered himself a pastor, preaching ideologies of temperance, celibacy, and racial and gendered segregation, and with the help (and deep pockets) of his followers, built a small town on the property. The settlement included houses, a gas station, a radio station, and for a short time, a zoo. :whistling:

"Father Riker was a reverend who was less than stellar and quite a bigot:thumbsup: in many respects," Darren Eastman, a neighbor to the property told CBS San Francisco. Trying to avoid the word "cult:nervous:," Eastman calls the former inhabitants a "religious society:duh:," and notes that today, nearby kids often follow the old footpaths, looking for the abandoned zoo.

Now, the property has recently been reclaimed by a wealthy Silicon Valley couple, who, in a weird twist, also happen to be Scientology's biggest donors:yes:. Duggan served as CEO of Pharmacyclics, a biotech company, when it sold to AbbVie in 2015 for $21 billion, but even prior to that, Duggan and his artist wife Trish had in 2013 reportedly given $20 million to the church.

Mimsey screws up

You may have seen my post on Tony's site this morning - with the picture of Clark Carr: http://ift.tt/2b6jSfe

In it I mistakenly said Gretchen got bupkis in the way of a service, and that Julian was her son. So, Lou G posted this response:

Quote:

Lou G • 4 hours ago

Gretchen and Fred Schwartz are not the parents of Julian. Fred's brother Louis has that distinction and I am not sure who his mother is. Gretchen did have a big memorial service. There were at least a 100 people in attendance. It was held at CCI in the garden. Fred was there looking befuddled with a handler close by. I was very fond of both Fred and Gretchen.

Arthur is a remarkable artist. Painting with blood sounds quite sensational but is not some ghoulish practice and has a long history. Google it. His paintings are quite beautiful and he is very accomplished.
So I emailed Tony and he graciously corrected my faux pas. Here is my apology to him and it is for anybody else it applies to.

My bad,

Mimsey

Quote:

Hi Tony,

I apologize to you for my inaccuracies - I had gone to Ruthie Silverberg's service She as an Asho reg, ex-wife of Michael Silverberg - the AO reg. It was a well attended shindig, and I expected the same for Gretchen when I heard she had passed. I tried to find out about her getting a service and found zip. When I posted at ESMB about it, or the lack, the only thing in the way of a service I heard of was a comment that they had one at FSC for her. It seemed awfully paltry, and I was pissed at the disrespect for someone who gave her life to the church. Hence my comment.

So much for my career as an investigative reporter, huh?

So, thank you for correcting what I wrote, and again, my apologies.
