Blog about a visit to Stockholm org in 2014

My apologies if this was already posted, it's from 2014 but I just stumbled upon it. And it's in Swedish, and long, so I guess only the stubborn or the bored will run it through google translate. It's fun though. I will just give a couple of highlights.

http://ift.tt/1VpeR2S

It's written by a never-in, who had read a lot about Scn on the net and decided to make a field trip to the Cl V org in Stockholm.

His first observation is that it's strange that, unlike other congregations, they have settled on the outskirt of the outskirts, in an industrial area. Once he reached the address, he looked in vain for a sign, and finally had to call the phone number listed for the org. A woman came down to let him in, saying "it's so hard to find us, not even our friends do". :roflmao:

He kept playing dumb, obviously pretty successfully. The org was on the 5th floor. He noticed many colorful posters on the walls, and busts of Hubbard. On one wall was a large org board with seven copper plates ingraved with post titles, quite impressive. However, looking closely, he noticed that only 6 or 7 posts actually had a name listed to them.

[For reference, when I joined in early 1980's, before the mission holder purge, there were around 100 staff.]

They showed him around, let him watch some videos, take the OCA (he was depressed...) and he said thanks but I need to leave, and got a DVD to bring home. At this time, he noticed about 10 people on the whole floor. Most of them were middle-aged, a couple of seniors, a couple of 25-year olds and a 20-year old. (His comment: "How can a 20-year old be a member of the Church of Scientology? Or a 25-year old? I mean, there is the internet. All you have to do is google.")

Soon after, he got a letter asking if he wanted to come in for an auditing session. So on a Saturday afternoon, he went there again. He was a bit disappointed that he didn't get to try the e-meter, though and the auditing wasn't that much fun. There was a coffee/dining area where about twenty people were sitting, most of them middle-aged. He sat down there with the auditor, and someone who later turned out to be the ED, and the sales pitch begun. He asked for a price list, but they said they didn't have any. He got a few color broschures to take home. It doesn't sound like they won him over.

Is Flag really the most standard and happiest place on the planet?

I started in scientology by working for a Scientology mission. I was used to help people with study problems by getting them through the Basic Study Manual, I got people with Maritial problem through courses to help their marriage, we really tried to help people when I was in a simple Scientology mission and we were really not about money.I got to Flag and I was there a supervisor for 10 yrs. It was the opposite. It was not about helping people, but about taking their money. People had to redo auditing levels, courses constantly. People yelling and cursing contantly, staff trying to leave - ethics room full to the ceiling. Metering supervisors not able to pass a metering video, auditors with horrible mtering. They always had some pcs - as all people had to redo OT VII, many Clears were told to redo levels as they were no Clear, now even redo lower grades. what I have witnessed is they are not getting new people in but taking more and more money from existing members. The worst is rewriting the books and now making all scientologist to read them in chronologial order. WTH. Thousand of bucks just to buy books? When i looked at some of the OT IIIs at Flag how miserable they looked ... One of my friend attempted suicide at Flag, an other one had forced abortion. I have seen a metering practice by a NOTs auditor -it was the worst I have ever seen. I do know of supervisors flirting with students there.

Still like to be Super Human?

Depiction of someone assuming the position of as a Hindu deity.

The many arms depict a being who is in communication with many planes of existence simultaneously. Most of us "humans" - normally - are trapped in one plane of rarefaction or existence at a time. When we glimpse other "planes" or "layers of rarefaction," we often forget once returned to the predominant Earthly plane.

Is this nonsense?

Or is there some truth to this?

Secretly, would you like be superhuman?

Deliberate LFBD

One day on E-Meter drills in the Academy, fellow students, the supervisor and I went off the leash and goofed around some with the meter.

I found that I could hold the cans, look at the dial, and produce a long fall blowdown by sheer will.

When I did this, I felt happier, as though some weight had lifted. I know what I did inside to accomplish this, and though I haven't see a meter in 20 years, I can still do it. I call it "pulling my happiness string."

It must have been a biofeedback effect. Has anyone else had this experience?

dream auditing

I have been reading a Book called The Dream Game by Ann Faraday - in which she uses dreams as a form of self auditing, for lack of a more psych orientated term. In it, she councils how to keep logs of dreams, to understand the symbology and divine what the heart is telling the mind. I find it interesting, because while I view most of my dreams as some form of entertainment while sleeping, she uses them to work out life's problems.

And it makes me wonder: would the dreams tell her the same things if she weren't focused on that use of them? She gives many examples of dreams she and others have had, such as a woman who dreams of herself in the nude in a crowd, which portends her anxiety about an upcoming speaking engagement, or dreaming of a husband who won't talk to her - ending up in the person's actual divorce as she realized he's stifling her natural creativity.

This morning I dreamed ( as I have in several forms prior) that my son wouldn't take me to an appointment while my truck was being repaired, so I, in my usual impulsive manner of doing things, decided to take a bus. But being unable to wait for the damn thing to arrive, I started walking along the route hoping to make some progress before it arrived. At one point I was on an office chair rolling it along and in another, I found myself in a shallow lake chest deep in water as I crossed it in my journey to reach my goal. I finally woke up not having gotten to the end.

This, to some extent is my life - I am going somewhere, but where? So, should I enjoy the dream? or should I use it to analyze my deep seated desires - passions frustrations?

Tom Cruise has time for Scientology, but no time for his daughter or his now dead dad

Tom Cruise has time for Scientology, but no time for his daughter or his now dead step-dad.

There are separate threads on this, but I wanted to put the pieces together under one headline.

As commonly and frequently reported, Tom Cruise has not seen his nine year-old daughter Surri for two years.

As recently reported, Tom Cruise did not see his dying step-father or bother to attend his funeral.

As reported today, Tom Cruise did, however, make time to visit Scientology’s Bogotá ‘Ideal Org.'

Tom Cruise has been in the South American country of Colombia shooting scenes for his next movie, Mena, and on Tuesday he went to the capital city of Bogotá and dropped in at the Scientology “Ideal Org” there, which had its grand opening just a few weeks ago.

“In the afternoon the protagonist of Jerry Maguire arrived at the Church of Scientology in the north of the city,” reported Noticias RCN. “The security detail at the building made the entrance of cameras impossible.”

But we did get a chance to see him in Bogotá, thanks to a member of the Ideal Org’s staff, Luciana Gomes, who transferred from Scientology’s São Paulo facility recently, and who posted the photo you see above.

“Look who was with Tom Cruise,” she added as a caption, tagging a friend who still works at the Scientology mission in São Paulo. “In fact, look where he is.”

She teases another friend, “I told you to go to Bogotá.”

She then tells another friend, “That’s why I wanted to go to Bogotá. To say hi to a comrade in faith,” she says of Cruise.

It's been good reading posts from others who were at St. Hill at the same time that I was (from about 1975/6 to 1981). It brought stuff flooding back to me, remembering others, and in some ways it all seems like yesterday. I'm sure I've forgotten so much. Some posts made me smile and even made it all sound almost like fun! Well I do have fond memories of those who I worked alongside even though I didn't find the overall experience at all easy. Washing your hair in freezing water and living on beans and rice, cleaning stations, muster....help!

Sex is a weak and clumsy substitute for actual aesthetics. Unfortunately, it is highly accessible for an overly MEST-like meat body culture, particularly one as far gone as this one. In a more “enlightened” (higher toned) society, the role of sex might be more likely substituted with games, action or some other higher tone level.

It’s interesting that sex is normally combined with other wavelengths and wave configurations. Particularly, you’ll see this with women. You’ll find one combining sex with play. One will combine it with a cloying “want-me” flow. Another will combine sex with anger. It’s amazing to see how many ways and what variety of wavelengths can be combined with sex among humans. You’ll find almost as many such odd combinations as there are humans.

Also interestingly, one will sometimes find that a person who seems to have little obvious appeal, is reacted to as if they have an ample serving of charisma, sex appeal or whatever. This is similar to the aforementioned combining of sex with other wavelengths. It is entirely the creation of the thetan. For whatever reason, a thetan can, at times and of his own volition, manage to project some appealing wavelength or consideration in place of what one would normally perceive about that person. The most stark examples of this can be rather plain-looking, unremarkable humans who nonetheless attract others to themselves as though they were passing out candy.

In any case, the only reason we see so much sex in our media environment (and art) is because of the depth to which this culture has sunk.

Interesting topic Ren.

Here’s what Ron has to say about sex and pain which according to Donatien Alphonse François better known as the Marque de Sade are closely associated. Obviously. Especially when there is Fifty Shades of Gray nailing it (‘scuse the pun ;) ) at the Box Office.

HUBBARD COMMUNICATIONS OFFICE Saint Hill Manor, East Grinstead, Sussex
HCO BULLETIN OF 26 AUGUST 1982
PAIN AND SEX
Remimeo
(Note: This HCOB probably won’t increase my popularity but I would be very remiss if I did not pass on an important discovery.)

There are two items in this universe that cause more trouble than many others combined.
One is PAIN.
The other is SEX.
One should know more about these things.
They may have applications but they are used by destructive beings in great volume to cave others in.
Despite the false data of Freud, psychologists, psychiatrists and other criminals, they are not native to a being. They are only artificial wavelengths. They have exact frequencies that can be manufactured. A being or a machine can synthesize either one.
Pain becomes a lock on a being’s abhorrence for misalignment of his own electrical flows. It is a lock upon unconsciousness which shuts off knowingness.
Sex is a lock on and perversion of the “joy of creation” which involves a whole being and expands him, but by using just one wavelength, sex, this can be perverted and he contracts.
When pain enters a scene, a being withdraws, contracts and can go unconscious.
When sex enters the scene, a being fixates and loses power.
Destructive creatures who do not want people big or reaching—since they are terrified of punishment due to their crimes—invented pain and sex to shrink people and cut their alertness, knowingness, power and reach.
Thus, you see people who are “experiencing” either pain or sex introverting and not producing much.
Pain and sex were the INVENTED tools of degradation.
Believe it or not, a being can be so overwhelmed by either that he or she becomes an addict of it. Priests become flagellants and cut themselves to pieces with self-whipping.

Torturers drool over pain. Lovers are very seldom happy. People do the most irrational things when overcharged with sex, and prostitutes use it as a knowing stock- in-trade. Combined, pain and sex make up the insane Jack-the-Rippers (who killed only prostitutes) and the whole strange body of sex-murder freaks, including Hinckley, and the devotees of late-night horror movies. Under the false data of the psychs (who have been on the track a long time and are the sole cause of decline in this universe) both pain and sex are gaining ground in this society and, coupled with robbery which is a hooded companion of both, may very soon make the land a true jungle of crime.
Go into an asylum or a prison and look at the increasing institutional population and know what you are looking at. In the main, these are pain and sex addicts, decadent and degraded and no longer capable. They were sent on that route down through the ages by the psychs and here they are still in the psychs’ hands! And do they get well or go straight? Oh no. Whether in prisons or insane asylums they just get worse. And the psychs in both places rub their bloodied hands as they turn their products loose again upon the remaining population! It’s no accident. And the stocks- in-trade of psychs are PAIN and SEX. They will even tell you it’s “natural” to steal!
To compound their felony—if that is possible—they tell you it’s the body doing it. Another crashing big false datum on top of all their other lies.
These are data which emerged from recent thorough research of the whole track. This is not theory or some strange opinion. It is provable electronic fact. The waves are just synthesized.
They are the most-used tools in the campaign against beings in furthering the general goal of those creatures whose sole ambition is destruction. The universe does not happen to be either destructive or chaotic except as such obsessed creeps make it. Statements it is otherwise are just more false data from the same suspect “authorities.” It fits their purposes to make seem natural what they make artificially. The universe only seems that way to a being because such loathsome psychotics make it seem so. They destroyed every great civilization to date and are hard at work on this one. The one thing they can’t stand is the light of truth, so despite their objections, one must turn it on them. Only in its glare do their lies wither. It is the potent weapon they can’t fend off.
These facts may not be very palatable. But they could clear up some mysteries for you.
For wherever there is a mystery (and both pain and sex have been these for man) there are answers. As both pain and sex could have messed up your life, the above may be some answers you’ve been looking for.

L. RON HUBBARD Founder

Actually “it’s the facts mam'” which drives the critics of the subject crazy who try to compare Scientology to Puritanism but really if one looks at 2D Rules one finds that Scientologists pretty much have a lot of freedom to aberate themselves and that the above HCOB is merely a caveat.

Part of the triad which gained popularity in the sixties along with “Drugs and Rock n’ Roll”. Drugs in particular, particularly LSD was promoted heavily by our spooky friends on the dark side in the CIA Technical Services Staff.

I’m glad you characterized “Pain and Sex” as a caveat. I’ve seen entirely too much hysteria surrounding this particular HCOB. The HCOB is simply an unvarnished report of research findings, and shouldn’t be met with a lot of emotional response. And it should be read in context with all the other things that LRH has said on sex and pain.

Yes it is a good point Paul, and thanks for posting RV.

I havnt read this HCOB for a long time, just the critics response to it. LRH is not saying anything in this that isnt plainly visible, ie, sex obsessed people and many people stuck in a pain laden personal hell, but at the same time he says this-

“They may have applications but they are used by destructive beings in great volume to cave others in.”

So my take on this is, they have their place, pain is a warning system for the body and sex can be a fun create, that at times ends up producing little munchkins, which can be a great enjoyment to teach and have around and create the future society we will come back to.

But take pain and sex to excess and they are terrifically introverting for a being. That is very plainly obvious.

I agree 4a.

But you know how these motivatorish cases are. They take everything that Ron writes and pervert it which pretty much tells one where they are on the Hubbard Chart of Human Evaluation.

However I think the “solution” is not to make Scientology “politically correct” but to bring them up to a level of understanding and duplication of the philosophy instead.

Otherwise skip it because one is dealing with a two dimensional worm in a three dimensional universe ;)

It’s all about granting beingness. Doncha know

I have never been associated with CoS in any way nor have I ever met anyone who has.

I have had a lifelong intense interest in what people believe and why they believe as they do.

I became aware of CoS in the early 1980's while on a visit to Clearwater, Florida where I had parked near the Fort Harrison Hotel. In the middle of the street I saw a group of young people assembled and wearing what appeared to be Navy cadet uniforms of some kind. They were being berated by an older plump woman with disheveled blond hair who wore what appeared to be an admiral's uniform from a stage production of H.M.S Pinafore complete with a thick gold-braided lanyard and brass buttons. The people assembled in formation seemed to cower and tremble as this woman screamed spittle-flecked insults toward them. It was truly a most bizzare sight.

I soon learned that this was the Church of Scientology Flag Land Base and the strangely uniformed people were practicing their religion.

I have been fascinated ever since with the doings of the CoS and devoted a great deal of time becoming informed through reading books, visiting websites, and following discussion boards such as this.

Who thinks that OSA is watching this site? I don’t

I have noticed that many of you think that OSA sends in trolls to mess with people on this site. Personally I don’t think they do.

Some of you think that OSA monitors this site regularly to see who is their enemy. I think that is more likely than their sending in trolls, but I don't think they pay very much attention to us, if at all.

If OSA were on here constantly I think many of them would begin to defect like Magoo did.

Others think that there are regular Scientology public that look here and report back.

Again, I don’t think that is happening for pretty much the same reason. They don’t want public here for any reason, because it would make them more likely to want to leave and it would expose Miscavage.

And if a public Scientologist came looking on this site even to "help the church find enemies" they would be sec checked until their bank account bled. Who would take that chance?

What do you think? Who here thinks that OSA pays attention to this site? If so how much. Do you think they send in trolls to mess with us?If so why? What would be the benefit? Do you think public Scientologists are monitoring the boards to help the church?

"The Freezone encompasses thousands of people and many different groups of practitioners, but there are other breakaway groups like the California Association of Dianetic Auditors that claim to have been founded as early as 1950. There is no clear, organized Scientology assembly removed from the Church, and while longstanding independent organizations like CADA exist, most people on the outside follow their own interpretations and their own rules.

"The Freezone or 'Independent Scene' or 'Indie Scientology' is just people who practice Scientology and Dianetics outside the Church of Scientology. Scientology, The Tax Exempt Covert Criminal Crime Wave That Calls Itself a "Church" ?

Calling Scientology a church makes as much sense as calling the Nazi's a religion. Church is a Scientology talking point that is nothing more than a diversion from the truth. Scientology is a covert criminal crime wave that has a tax exempt status.

Could anyone in their right mind believe that the data listed below is religious activity?

"It began with the title of a fairy tale - Snow White-. That was the benign code name Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard gave to an ominous plan that would envelop his church in scandal and send its upper echelon to prison, a plan rooted in his ever-deepening fears and suspicions.

Snow White began in 1973 as an effort by Scientology through Freedom of Information proceedings to purge government files of what Hubbard thought was false information being circulated worldwide to discredit him and the church. But the operation soon mushroomed into a massive criminal conspiracy, executed by the church's legal and investigative arm, the Guardian Office."

Their targets were in the government, the press, the medical profession, wherever a potential threat surfaced.
The Guardian Office saved the worst for author Paulette Cooper of New York City, whose scathing 1972 book, "The Scandal of Scientology," pushed her to the top of the church's roster of enemies.Among other things, Cooper was framed on criminal charges by Guardian Office members, who obtained stationery she had touched and then used it to forge bomb threats to the church in her name.

Scientology, The Tax Exempt Covert Criminal Crime Wave That Calls Itself a "Church" ?

Sincere Newb, Troll, Lunatic or Gag? What Should We Do?

It's not like this hasn't come up before, but the Tigerv1, Tigerv2 and Tigerv3 Newb brings the subject fresh to the fore.

I would personally like some sort of procedure for the Newbs who jump in with an incredibly wild, supernatural story or similar. There doesn't seem to be any troubles dealing with the other Newbs.

IMHO, this is the most common, predictable roleplay OSA likes to use. It's been done dozens and dozens of times here and on WWP and goes something like this:

1) The Newb posts some shocking, incredible subject line in one or more respected, well-read categories, but never in the Newb introduction place, often something irresistibly funny.

2) The Newb refuses to talk privately about the hallucination/vision/wild occurrence.

3) The Newb shows no interest in professional counseling to address it.

4) The Newb provides no details of experience with Scn, where or how he arrived at these conclusions or any details of his past to indicate why he holds such odd beliefs and sidesteps any questions along this line.

5) The Newb is easily offended when there is no reason to be offended (yet)

5) With no grist or information to help the Newb and plenty of fodder for Scn jokes, the jokes begin.

6) We have fun joking. Some still try to address the Newb seriously, but now the Newb ignores the ones who aren't joking.

7) The Newb claims to be a victim of abuse and claims we are abusing a victim of abuse.

8) Newb says we are all mean and terrible and leaves.

Over and over and over again this scenario has played out on exscn and WWP, probably other sites as well. From a public view, it's not just to take up our time, but to make us look bad. It's a lose-lose situation. Either A) We seriously listen and act like the person is believable and appear as batty as him, or B) We point out the ridiculousness of such claims and we are mean.

Some may believe that Tigerv1,2,3 was a real person that really believed what he wrote, or that there was a chance of that. There were plenty of comments Tiger made that indicated otherwise, but suppose this were actually true?

I personally think referring a person like that to trauma and other professionals is the best course. Those that pointed out the irrationality of the fear may have actually lessened the reality of it to the person. To play along with a delusion of someone genuinely unhinged when you are not right there in front of them can be dangerous. There have been shootings and worse by unhinged people. Why play along like it is real and suck them into it further? How does that benefit them?

The alternate view is, of course, that it is just being kind and compassionate to listen to the person and not invalidate them. There's certainly some truth to that as well.

We need a procedure Why not? OSA has a role play procedure for the exscn sites. We can also have a role play procedure to shoot right back that doesn't offend any actual Newb that might accidentally use one of OSA's favourite Internet roleplays.

What do you think? How about our own group roleplay?

Members here can have key roles, i.e.,

THE SAINT: Panda can be the one that is always nice and always understanding and always believes the person is sincere because he does this easily on his own, anyway. If Panda is not around, someone else has to be the saint.

THE QUESTIONER: Persists in trying to get solid information from the Newb without offending him.

THE LOGICAL SKEPTIC: Points out how these irrational occurrences can be explained by natural phenomenon.

THE JOKER: Makes jokes about Scientology, but not directly about the person's visions/hallucinations/outrageous stories. Makes it clear if the person gets offended that he is joking about Scientology, not about the person or what they experienced.

THE GURU: Speaks in esoteric, cryptic, mystical short sentences (like Mystic used to do) Quotes spiritually enlightening things that nobody could ever understand that may be related, but then again, might not.

Any others?
Sincere Newb, Troll, Lunatic or Gag? What Should We Do?

Doesn't it all boil down to a massive, unrepairable arc break?

The Downfall of Scientology -(ironically forecast by their own tech!)

In the year 2015, any organization based on 1950's scientific worldview is at a massive Reality break with...well...REALITY! No matter how fake-affinity minded my sleazy old boss was, nor how often they tried to influence/handle me, I just could not get past their conceptions of reality. I imagine the same is for any population steeped in the age of the internet (as is today's).

From the DC-3 space planes to the Venusian locomotives to even mention of the VAN ALLEN BELT (when was the last time you heard someone outside the cult mention that?) - everything drags down the R side of the communication triangle.

Okay, enough of this - now get out there and start cleaning those windows with newspapers per policy directive!

Google has started putting “definitions” when you search. And this one is a doozy.

The Church of Scientology is a rich and venegeful religious cult, or as one critic puts it, “a cross between the Moonies and the Mafia.” But is would be a mistake to dismiss its underlying technology as harmeless of ineffective.

And the second listed site (Wikipedia) has a pretty gnarly pull-quote that includes disconnection and Lisa McPherson. Wow.

Scientology’s disconnection policy, in which some members are required to shun friends or family members who are “antagonistic” to the Church. The death of a Scientologist Lisa McPherson while in the care of the church.

A warning to potential Scientologists

The cult within a cult of 'Scientology' is a hate group against the validity and liberty of humankind.

This hate group is a demonic movement which sees itself as God-like, and seeks to dominate human society.

What one sees on the surface of 'Scientology' is a group that appears to want to help humankind, but behind that surface and within the deep nature of 'Scientology' there is actually hate against the validity and liberty of humankind for what is actually a demonic supremacy.

One can get a clue from 'Scientology's' ideal of an 'OT planet'. What that actually entails is a society dominated by a satanic order.
A warning to potential Scientologists

Consider This Theory....

What do you think of my theory regarding 'Scientology':

Scientology is the science of evil designed to appear as positive sense.
Consider This Theory....

Scientology Calls Them PTS, The World Calls Them Schizophrenic.

Hi.

This is genuine information given in the interests of exposing the truth in the interests of justice.

There is a covert operation practiced by operatives of the 'Scientology' organization to inflict extreme supernatural persecution upon targeted individuals, for the purpose of destroying their personal and social well-being.

This persecution is inflicted upon vulnerable individuals whom are not represented by society in denial of the abuse.

'Scientology' quickly 'offloads' such people under the PR guise that they are 'PTS/SP's'. The world is likely to label them Schizophrenics. They are really neither but are actually victims of a modern satanic movement which has re-invented the damnation of satanic nature into something proclaimed to be 'Total Freedom'.

Two Scientology e-mail addresses allegedly used for Ashley Madison accounts

Greetings

I was first exposed to Scientology in the late 1980s. I was at a new chiropractic physician and the doctor that I was associating with Had been a Scientologist for many years. I started to take several courses at his behest and then eventually started getting auditing.

at some point while taking one of the courses, and during the time that I was yelling at an ashtray, it struck me how absurd this was Looney Toon organization was. However, the doctor that I was working with at the time seemed very invested and I decided to give it a try for a little while longer.

I was taking one of the courses which required a great deal of self study. At the same time, I was dating a beautiful young lady who had eventually become my wife. This was of course taking me away from my Scientology studies and I was not completing the course on time. When they ask me why, I told them that because I was spending time with my girlfriend who is not actually very much invested in Scientology and, had some serious reservations about it. When I explain this to them, they said they would "handle her". After hearing that comment I inform them that I was the only one that would be handling her. I decided after that that I was going to quit. I went in the org with the idea that I would have to do battle with somebody upon giving them that decision. As it turned out, I think they were happy to see me go because I ask so many questions and often made rather crude jokes at the expense of L Ron Hubbard. I think one of them had something to do with the fact it maybe didn't actually leave his body, as they claimed he did, but I had a heart attack due to his obesity and rotten teeth that had probably put bacteria into his blood and cause damage to the valves of this heart. Apparently, they did not see the humor in that comment.

in any case, I have read numerous books on Scientology and have become somewhat obsessed with seeing its destruction occur. had I been a weaker person, I think they would have tried to separate me from the young lady that I was dating at the time due to her non commitment and possible criticism of the cult.even after so many years, I think that is still resulted in a deep seeded resentment against them. Maybe I should see a psychiatrist As one last act of defiance against them . :-)
Greetings

Irish Times: Tom Cruise's stepdad hadn't seen the star for some time before his death

http://ift.tt/1JeEnlO

* * * * * BEGIN EXCERPT * * * * *

Tom Cruise might be promoting his latest action hit around the world, but it seems like his tight schedule made it impossible for the star to attend his stepdad's funeral. That's how it appears to fans of the 53-year-old, who apparently hadn't seen John South, who was 89, for some time before his death from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease last month.

The diminutive star once described John, who helped launch his lengthy big screen career, as a “wise and smart man”. But when it came to the final farewell for the man who was married to his mum Mary Lee Pfeiffer for 32 years before their 2012 divorce, Tom was nowhere to be seen.

John, who died on July 25, told The Sun on Sunday that he'd not seen Tom for "a while" when he was admitted to hospital on July 3.

The Jack Reacher star, who recently received a hero's welcome on a Japanese publicity tour , and his 78-year-old mum both skipped the funeral, but John seemed to accept why he hadn't seen his stepson.

“I knew him before he was Tom," he said simply, but: "It’s been a while. I’d rather not go into that because I take care of myself the best I can. I don’t want to bother him with it. I’m more concerned by my immediate family," he said.

WWII veteran John was being treated at Frances Georgeson Hospice House in Naples, Florida, but shots shared in the press showed Tom living it up at a party in Nashville, Tennessee.

Although John lived with Mary Lee for 13 years in stunning Marco Island in Florida, she turned her back on him for Scientology in 2003. The reason cited by John for their final divorce in 2010 was that the marriage was “irretrievably broken” — words used by actress Katie Holmes when she split from Cruise in 2012.

Mary Lee married John in 1978 when Tom was just 16, four years after she divorced his biological dad Thomas Mapother II, an abusive alcoholic who died a decade later.

Speaking about his death in an interview with Rolling Stone in 1986, Tom said: "He was a person who did not have a huge influence on me in my teens; the values and motivation really came from my stepfather." But the Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation star apparently involved mum Mary Lee in the religion established by L Ron Hubbard, as she's been a follower of Scientology for 12 years now.

Although Tom wasn't one of the 20 people to attend John's funeral on August 7 at Saint William Catholic Church in Naples, his image loomed as large as it did in one of his films. Pictures at the event showed John, Mary Lee and Tom together around the time of Top Gun in the 1980s.

Tom's sister Marian Henry and nephew Cal were there, but no one knows where Mary Lee was, having not been spotted since a Scientology event four months ago. Although she used to live with Tom in his Beverly Hills mega-mansion, she was reportedly moved to assisted living last December.

On his relationship with John, Tom said: "In the beginning, I felt threatened by my stepfather. There’s a part of you that’s in love with your mother. But John is such a wise, smart man. He loved my mother so much that he took us all in, four young people."

IRS Under Microscope After John Oliver Televangelism Segment

I found this article about the IRS and religious tax exempt status today. Here's some snippets.
Quote:

John Oliver's scintillating HBO program Last Week Tonight has criticized everything from FIFA to government surveillance to the food industry. His latest segment which tackles televangelists who reap million of dollars from faithful followers, has some praying that the IRS will exercise, well, less faith when it comes to televangelist funds.

...The Trinity Foundation, an organization that probes religious fraud, holds that the wild success of televangelism has in part been fueled by the IRS failing to audit churches which are exempt from taxes due to the constitutional right to exercise religion freely.

...Trinity's founder, Ole Anthony, said that since the the IRS named the Church of Scientology several years ago, "anybody can call themselves a church".

Lots of fun comments in the comments section some of which don't have nice things to say about scientology.

It's nice to know there are efforts to reign in the abuses of some "churches'" abuses of their tax exempt status. Let's hope these efforts gain some traction leading to the CofS's tax exempt revocation. :happydance:

Abbott says Scientology group had nothing to do with veto

Quote:

AUSTIN - After Gov. Greg Abbott vetoed a bill allowing emergency-room patients to be temporarily detained by doctors who think they may be dangerously mentally ill, attention centered on one headline-inducing entity that wanted the measure dead.

“Meet Scientology’s favorite GOP governor,” blared Salon. Newsweek wrote, “Critics Link Texas Governor to Church of Scientology.”

Both cited opposition from the Citizens Commission on Human Rights, co-founded by the Church of Scientology as a check on psychiatric practices. It was first highlighted in a story by the Texas Tribune, which examined veto-related records and noted Abbott didn’t respond to its request for comment.

Don't say that again

Same band, same song, 2 different versions: "Don't say that again". This song always creates a mixed bag of feelings in me: On one hand, it's a very happy, uplifting song, on the other hand it invokes deep sadness in me and grief about all the skills I have lost. Even a few years ago, I was able to play every single instrument in that song and nowadays, I'm having a hard time to get the bass basics right - let alone the other instruments. But still, the song is uplifting, inspiring and encouraging to me. So here are 2 versions of the song:

And yeah, I think the guitarist is handling the Strat-like guitar with its "yammer-hook" much better than the full-body semi-acoustic, which, BTW, is also an awesome instrument.

people in Miss Lovely book

I am surprised how many of the people in the book I have known or met and had no idea of what they were up to - Jimmy mulligan, Jim Meisner, Charlie Batdorf, Len Zinberg, Jerry Levine, Artie Maren, come to mind.

I am reminded of this story that Hubbard would glowingly relate on his tapes, of the assassins that lived on a mountain, and how they were led to believe in the 70 virgins, and rivers of milk and honey that awaited in the after life. And how they would believe in a better life awaited them, and would go off on suicide missions to attack the sultan's enemies.

Good people, doing bad things for a cause they believed was for the greater good.

These people I have known were pawns in a terrible game played by a sick man.

Mind Games—The New “Female Viagra” is Actually an Antidepressant

Mind games: An act of calculated psychological manipulation, done especially to confuse or intimidate— American Heritage Dictionary

“The use of dangerous mind-altering drugs to allegedly increase a woman’s sexual desire is simply a continuation of the FDA and APA’s history of pathologizing normal female behavior and it is a disservice to women everywhere.”

By Kelly Patricia O’Meara

August 20, 2015

In what can only be described as an extraordinarily sexist action, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently approved the drug “Addyi,” which is misleadingly being touted as the “Female Viagra.” But unlike Viagra, which affects blood flow to the male genitals, Addyi, the “pink Viagra” for women, is all about messing with their minds—it’s an antidepressant drug.

And it only gets worse. Addyi, an antidepressant drug, was designed to “treat” the so-called mental disorder, Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (HSDD), or female sexual interest/arousal disorder. In short, this drug approval not only suggests, but supports, the absurd notion that women, for any number of reasons, who do not seek sexual arousal, are somehow suffering from a mental illness.

“Addyi” reportedly increases the brain chemicals dopamine and noradrenalin, while at the same time reducing Serotonin and, voila, increased sexual desire is achieved. It all sounds scientific. A little chemical increase here, a reduction there, and the female libido is revved up and ready to go. But it’s not that simple and, in the case of the antidepressant, “Addyi,” there are some very serious, even life-threatening adverse reactions.

First though, as is the case with all antidepressants, no one has a clue how “Addyi” actually works in the brain to “treat” the alleged mental disorder HSDD and, according to the FDA advisory committee on the drug, “the precise mechanism of action by which flibanserin enhances sexual desire in patients with HSDD is not known.” What is known though is that while the FDA has approved “Addyi,” the federal agency is covering its actions by attaching serious drug oversight and warnings.

The clinical trial results were marginal at best—women taking “Addyi” experienced an increase of about 0.5 to 1 sexually satisfying events per month compared to women taking the placebo—and based on the results, the risks associated with “Addyi” could be far less pleasurable. For example, the FDA is requiring that “Addyi” carry its most serious “black box” warning, advising the drug should not be used by those who drink alcohol, as it increases the risk of severely low blood pressure (hypotension) and fainting (syncope). Other common side effects include dizziness, somnolence, nausea, fatigue, insomnia and dry mouth.

The FDA is so concerned about the possible adverse effects of “Addyi” on women that it is requiring doctors and pharmacists to watch an online presentation and pass a test of their understanding, literally becoming certified to prescribe and dispense the drug.

While most would agree that it is insulting and demeaning to suggest women suffer from a mental illness because of a lack of desire to participate in a sexual act, this isn’t the first time the FDA, with the help of the American Psychiatric Association (APA), has become an accomplice in what can only be described as disease mongering.

The APA decided by a show-of-hands vote that Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD), also known as PMS, is a mental disorder and pharmaceutical giant, Eli Lilly, jumped on the bandwagon repackaging its blockbuster antidepressant, Prozac, as a new “treatment” for PMDD called Sarafem.

There was nothing “new” about Sarafem, as there is literally no chemical difference between the antidepressants Prozac and Sarafem. Lilly simply changed the color of the pill from green to the very feminine pink and lavender and sold it as a new “treatment” for a nonexistent mental disorder. Like Prozac and Sarafem, the new pink “Addyi” is a thrice failed antidepressant repackaged as a first of its kind “treatment” for women “suffering” from the alleged mental illness of not wanting sex.

Beyond the known dangerous side effects associated with the antidepressant, “Addyi,” and the nonexistent mental disorder it alleges to “treat,” there are other questions that scream for answers, such as who decides what is the “normal” number of sexual encounters a woman may desire? And, if a woman desires less sex than others, does that require chemically altering the brain?

There have long been obvious differences between the sexual drive and desires of men and woman, comically revealed by Billy Crystal in the film City Slickers when he explained “women need a reason to have sex, men just need a place.” True or not, the use of dangerous mind-altering drugs to allegedly increase a woman’s sexual desire is simply a continuation of the FDA and APA’s history of pathologizing normal female behavior and it is a disservice to women, not a mental disorder.

Kelly Patricia O’Meara is an award-winning former investigative reporter for the Washington Times’ Insight Magazine, penning dozens of articles exposing the fraud of psychiatric diagnosis and the dangers of the psychiatric drugs—including her ground-breaking 1999 cover story, “Guns & Doses,” exposing the link between psychiatric drugs and acts of senseless violence. She is also the author of the highly acclaimed book, Psyched Out: How Psychiatry Sells Mental Illness and Pushes Pills that Kill. Prior to working as an investigative journalist, O’Meara spent sixteen years on Capitol Hill as a congressional staffer to four Members of Congress. She holds a B.S. in Political Science from the University of Maryland.

LOL! Sydney Scientologist Writes Cheesy 'Ideal Org' Song! Enjoy!

I don't know how this was overlooked but it's gold! Sydney Scientologist Bart Nettle attempted to raise money for the up and coming Idle Org back in 2009 by writing a song called "My Ideal Org" http://ift.tt/MJh2jB

Here's the lyrics so you can sing along! :happydance::dancer:

Quote:

My IDEAL ORG

Join the team that's doing the most good,

Get on the road, the road to Freedom,

You too can be part of the scene,

We're got a star high goal to clear,

Lets put the Bridge there right now,

so mankind can be free,

free to be the all,

the best we can be,

Yeah we're making our Ideal Org,

Yeah we're creating our Ideal Org,

Yeah we're building up our Ideal Org,

Yeah...This is our Community,

Yeah...This is our city,
Yeah...This is our family.

This is our you and me,

We play to win (repeat)

Don't waste this brief breath,

We're at the reverse point,

In our Eternity,

Step up for your Ideal Org,

Walk into the new,

Its your Ideal Org, (Repeat)

I'm going into Town, going into my Ideal Org.

I'm going into Town to my Ideal Org

And if you can stomach it, then listen to the earlier "raunchier" version here: http://ift.tt/1EELDTN

If someone can mirror these songs, plus the LRH-inspired one called 'Your Love' (http://ift.tt/1EELEHx) that would be good as I doubt they'll be up for long! :eyeroll::laugh:

Forget the American electorate. Donald Trump’s biggest fan may be a British businessman who likes to play the odds.

John Mappin, a media investor who owns Camelot Castle in Cornwall, has placed more than 15 wagers, totaling more than £2,000 (or $3,100), that Trump will secure the Republican presidential nomination, if not win the presidential election outright. Depending on the type of bet (nomination or presidential victory) — and the odds at the time it was placed — the payoffs range from 7-to-1 to more than 30-to-1. If Trump indeed becomes president and Mappin wins every bet he’s made, he stands to collect at least £40,000 (or $62,000).

As for Mappin, the Trump bettor, he’s almost as colorful and controversial a character as the man he’s predicting will become president. Mappin says his family once earned a fortune in the British silver trade. And he’s now put his money to use by buying Camelot Castle — in the locale from where King Arthur hailed, Mappin notes — and turning it into a hotel of sorts, a kind of Downton Abbey that’s open to the public. Mappin is also well known as a member of the Church of Scientology.

Aside from placing big bets on Trump, Mappin is hoping to connect with the candidate in other ways. He’s planning on launching a television channel from his castle and producing a program interviewing celebrities and other prominent figures. Trump is on the must-have list. “I have extended an outreach,” Mappin says.

What Can We Actually Attribute to Spirit?

This is a spinoff from another thread which got me thinking -

We can raise and lower heartbeat and pulse, create swellings and red marks on our skin, numb ourselves to pain or feel pain when there is no physical source just through our minds. It's been done repeatedly on subjects through deep hypnosis and people who can do it consciously aren't uncommon. These are biological things and the mind can sometimes override many otherwise unconscious functions. Spirit may be a factor, but it's not a necessary one, so in these situations doesn't matter.

So when does pure spirit get involved? Does it?

Does it even matter?
What Can We Actually Attribute to Spirit?

Scientology and the Internet

Tony Ortega's post today about the Fishman Affidavit reminded me of the first time I went on the internet to see what was written about Scientology.

It was around 1994 when a friend gave me his old '386 computer and I got a 28K modem and AOL account.

I remember well what I thought and how I felt...and how it all changed over time.

As others have written, it was with a visceral mix of anxiety, trepidation, fear, and excitement...but above all,

it was an overriding belief that I had a fundamental human right to look, and see

what was there, the ethics officer be damned!

I was OT fucking 3! Free from overwhelm, LOL!

I remember the guilty pleasure that I took from reading Robert Vaughn Young, Karin Spaink, and Arnie Lerma and of having to wade through pages of OSA spam and trolls.

There were wonderful nuggets of truth to be found, and as the guilt receded the pleasure widened and filled me with a
cautious joyousness,

So much has changed in the 20 years since I first typed alt.religion scientology and hit the return key...

How did SCIENTOLOBY CHANGE your SEX LIFE or SEXUAL ACTIVITY - or not ?

Some public seemed to be on course too much to have time for much sex - others would forgo sleep for a nice romp.

In the early 70's for public it seemed we were never very far from almost the ( wonderful ) Free Love Era.

Back then, it wasn't hard ( no pun intended ) for public & ( some, not all ) SO Staff to be known to be getting it on.

Staff changed partners so fast it was hard to keep up with who was sleeping with who.

Slowly it changed. Threesomes began to be frowned on. No more nude comm courses. The as long as it doesn't interfere with going up the bridge there are no 2D rules really began to fade.

By the late 80's we had the infamous 'Pain & Sex' ( dumber than dirt ! ) PL written by an old man that could no longer get it up.

All in a sudden it was wrong to masturbate & married couples in the SO feeling sex was an overt, period.

It got WEIRD !

The slow subtle change from ribald fun to nun strictness ever so slowly crept in until it got so insane as to be intolerable.

FOIA Request Reveals FTC Flooded with Narconon Complaints

So I dumped a massive FTC dox drop on Narconon from my ongoing FOIA crusader project, and wrote a lil sumthin sumthin about it here:

http://ift.tt/1Nl8cF7

Quote:

Evidence of these controversies has been piling up so fast in recent years; we are now seeing a nationwide trend of dropping the usual “Narconon” or “Fresh Start” brand names on new rehabs. Meanwhile, the Scientologists running these centers are also renaming existing Narconon facilities with cushy, feel-good fictitious business names like Emerald Pines Rehab, Riverbend Retreat and Tranquility Detox. This deceptive rebranding conveniently allows the embattled ABLE franchise of Scientology-based drug and alcohol treatment centers to distance their facilities from the long, sordid history of damning media coverage, rip-off reports and lawsuits associated with the Narconon brand.

This trend inspired me to join forces with the Narconon Reviews team and take up their call to arms for filing more record requests. I also opted to bring the power of MuckRock News service to the table so that we could commence to doxing one of the Church of Scientology’s biggest revenue streams en bloc. During the past few months, we have received so much documentation via Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) releases and record requests, it will likely take us until this time next year to compile and publish it all on this website and elsewhere. To get that party started, we have decided to begin with releasing a cache of Federal Trade Commission (FTC) complaints for fraud and deceptive business practices spanning 15 different Narconon corporations.

EMDR Therapy

My psychologist started me on this form of therapy called EMDR. I had never heard of it before the psychologist I was seeing in Austin mentioned it to me. Because of the organized nature of the therapy, and the focus on remembering past traumas, I was actually nervous about it. When the psychologist I am seeing now in LA brought it up, I experienced the same reluctance. He was a little bit more insistent though, and so I agreed to try it out. This is the first time that I have encountered a form of therapy that reminded me so much of Scientology that it made me afraid to even think about doing it.

First he started by asking me about my traumatic past, and we talked about some of the things I experienced in the Sea Org and before. I kept having to remind myself that this isn't Scientology, this isn't a sec check, this isn't Dianetics. Despite many, many similarities. He asked me for a specific memory that seemed to encapsulate the whole of the traumatic experience in the Sea Org and then asked me some questions about it. He did a quick subjective, number-based assessment of how the memory affected me in various ways, and asked me in what part of my body I was experiencing sensations related to the disturbance. It was all so Scientology-esque that I was terrified of what I was walking in to.

Then we did the actual therapy. It consists of about 45 minutes of watching a ball bounce back and forth on a screen and focusing on memories of the traumatic experience. My doctor explained to me that there is a specific series of steps in the brain that each memory travels through in order to be properly imprinted. When a memory is being recorded amidst a traumatic experience, that memory skips the normal channels and is recorded in such a way that it negatively affects a person. I am telling you the deeper I got into it, the more afraid I was that I was walking into a Scientology session.

I kept all that fear at bay and I sat down in the chair to watch the ball bounce across the computer screen. Shockingly, it has helped a lot to relieve the negative emotions I have been holding on to around my experience in Scientology. In fact it has helped me deal with my father specifically, and the hateful emotions I have had attached to my memories of him. It helped me to more clearly remember parts of my life that I closed the book on long ago because I couldn't deal.

The therapy is absolutely fascinating. It is unfortunate that Hubbard mimicked the ideas in his own demented way, but I am glad that I was able to set aside my apprehension and engage in the therapy. It has done more for me in the last 3 or 4 sessions than auditing ever did. When I am done, I don't feel like I was in a trance, or like I am waking up from a dream. There's no commands that the therapist gives me. I just watch the ball and let my mind wander through my traumatic experiences.

What do you think about this?

Has anyone else ever tried this therapy before?

Quote:

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy treatment that was originally designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories (Shapiro, 1989a, 1989b). Shapiro’s (2001) Adaptive Information Processing model posits that EMDR facilitates the accessing and processing of traumatic memories and other adverse life experience to bring these to an adaptive resolution. After successful treatment with EMDR, affective distress is relieved, negative beliefs are reformulated, and physiological arousal is reduced. During EMDR therapy the client attends to emotionally disturbing material in brief sequential doses while simultaneously focusing on an external stimulus. Therapist directed lateral eye movements are the most commonly used external stimulus but a variety of other stimuli including hand-tapping and audio stimulation are often used (Shapiro, 1991). Shapiro (1995, 2001) hypothesizes that EMDR facilitates the accessing of the traumatic memory network, so that information processing is enhanced, with new associations forged between the traumatic memory and more adaptive memories or information. These new associations are thought to result in complete information processing, new learning, elimination of emotional distress, and development of cognitive insights. EMDR therapy uses a three pronged protocol: (1) the past events that have laid the groundwork for dysfunction are processed, forging new associative links with adaptive information; (2) the current circumstances that elicit distress are targeted, and internal and external triggers are desensitized; (3) imaginal templates of future events are incorporated, to assist the client in acquiring the skills needed for adaptive functioning.

French Scientologists booted from surf event

Members of an anti-drug association have been turned away from a surfing competition in Gironde, south-west France, after allegedly trying to convert people to the Church of Scientology.

Quote:

With the amount of young people attending the Lacanau Pro surfing competition, the event’s organizers thought that it would be the perfect place to spread information about the dangers of drugs.

Accordingly, the anti-drug association "Non à la drogue, oui à la vie" (No to drugs, yes to life) was granted permission to set up a stall at the event, where members would hand out notices to people about narcotics and get them to sign petitions.

However, two days into the competition, which runs from August 13th to 23rd, the organizers noticed that the stall was not all that it seemed. After being alerted to some of the conversations taking place at the stall, the organizers reportedly realized that the association was in fact financed by the Church of Scientology.

“They were converting. We were fooled, misled,” a spokesperson for the surfing competition was quoted as saying by Le Parisien. Pierre Braun, director of communication for the town of Lacanau, also said he had been misled.

“We made an agreement in principle with them to use the public highway to raise awareness about the dangers of drugs, but despite the usual precautions we realized that they were hiding something,” he told the paper. The stand was finally moved from the event on Sunday.

This isn’t the first time Scientology has come under the spotlight in France, where it is considered to be a sect. In 2013, France’s highest appeals court, the Cour de Cassation, rejected an appeal by the Church of Scientology against several convictions for “organized fraud”.

Hello,

The release of the Golden Age Of Tech Phase II has made it possible to train auditors in a matter of months especially those who have put in a standard study schedule. As with everything, the more time is put into something the faster it goes to complete the cycle of action.

We now also have the Internships for Class IV and V as well as for Purif C/S and we have the Qual OKs for the other tech courses.

It is fully expected that all our auditors get through their training and through the Internships as fast as possible. Remember that certs are only validated and permanent with an Internship as otherwise the certs expire after 1 year. If you have done your courses more than a year ago, route onto the Internship as soon as you can. For those who are completing Class IV from now on best thing is to get straight away onto the Internship to prevent your cert from expiring. Note that the

The question has come up if previously interned auditors have to do the GAT II Internship. The answer is: Yes. Per the latest IG Network Bulleting “All existing golden Age of Tech Phase II auditors and delivery personnel can now attain permanent certification and must do so by completing the Interneships and Qual Okays for the courses they have done.” – COB

Please fill in the below so that we have your update on where you stand and your target to complete the various levels and Internships.

1. What GAT II courses have you done so far?

2. Which GAT II course are you on now?

3. What is your target date to complete this course?

4. What is your target date to complete the line-up to Class IV?

5. What is your target date to start the Internship for Class IV?

6. What is your target date to complet the full training line-up and internships?

7. If you are currently living in a country where there are no orgs where you can do the training (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal), what would you need to do before you can get your self to a country where you can go to an org (UK, US, South Africa, …). Please include any steps you need to take to make it happen.

8. Conditional for those in non-UK countries: If you have worked out your plan of action as per point 7 above, where will you do0 your training and what is your estimated arrival date?

9. Is there anything else you want to communicate about your GAT II training?

Thank you very much for your data.

HELP! Need Cozumel beach info

I have been searching for days on things to do while in Cozumel. I believe we will do a snorkeling trip in the morning, but I have been looking and looking for something inexpensive to do in the afternoon. After paying for this cruise and what couple of port excursion we have already paid for, we're looking to keep cost down. ( Family of 4)

We have been on cruises before and usually its a beach walking distance to the ship. While in Grand Turk (I believe) it was a beautiful pool and beach right there.

Now I am trying to be prepared and have been combing CC and just hoping for some updating info and advice.

Are there any beaches/pools walking distance from the port ? (Royal caribbean international pier) What do you do if your not on an excursion all day?

I understand taxis are available , but we would have to get a taxi to the snorkeling spot and looking to not have so many taxi charges. Even with a taxi most beaches seem to charge fees.

I have looked into paradise beach after snorkeling, but they require a $10 pp food purchase plus I'm sure my kids would want the $15 fun pass
( which I know I don't HAVE to do) so thats another $40 - $70.

Are there any "free" beaches close to the downtown area ( where our snorkeling meet spot is?)

Or any low cost options you all have experienced while in Cozumel????

Thank you
