A question about criticizing Scientology (from an outsider)

Hey everyone,

As someone who has never been in Scientology but takes an interest in it, I have a question: To which extent does Scientology go after its critics? I imagine that, in the age of the internet, no one has the time or manpower to silence every single opponent you have. On the other hand I've also heard that the church is rather infamous for its attempts to silence people. So how does that work? Do they go after journalists or public figures or basically anyone they come across?

I've also read about SP's and how people can be marked a PTS. Does that only go for church-goers, ex-church members or people that are in some way connected to the organization - for instance via family? Or could this even be a blogger that critiqued Scientology?

Maybe a silly question, but just something I wonder.
