Scientology Using Facial Recognition Software Yet?

I have no information either way. But I wouldn't be at all surprised to find, say, PAC Security using it.

How it used to work at events at the Shrine or somewhere would be that the facial recognition was done by wetware, namely security guards and OSA staff of long duration who had interacted with such people over the years and would simply remember them. Or newer ones who had studied mug shot books or whatever they're called. Very 20th century and earlier, and very dependent on having old-timers around. Some org without these oldies — or a fast internet link to PAC Security — wouldn't have a clue when, for example, Pope or Smurf or someone rocked up to say hi.

But with facial recognition software getting better and cheaper and more available, all it needs is one central point inputting photos or other biometric details which can then be shipped out to all its junior security operations.

Walmart and other stores use facial recognition to spy on you

As early as 2013, Walmart and Facebook announced their plans to begin using facial software on everyone.

According to a Fortune.com article, Walmart tested a facial recognition system that scanned the face of everyone entering several of its stores this year. The system would identify people of interest and alert security but it proved too costly.

Chris Calabrese at the Center for Democracy and Technology warns...

"Anywhere that has a camera could end up employing face recognition technology."
