Does the brain cause conciousness?

Two interesting videos, both are discussing the concept that the brain is a receiver, not a creator of thought. Holy crap - could Hubbard be right? Watch these - quite interesting Mimsey

EDIT!!! in the second video about 25 min in is an amazing illustration of an honor student, who was found to only have a brain stem, yet she functioned perfectly normally - which he is using to bolster his theory that the brain isn't the creator of thought. Holy moley!!

Second Edit - I am about half way through the second video, and the speaker goes into the research that is being done to establish the validity of the spiritual beingness as being separate from the brain ( and body) and goes into statistical analysis of 1000 near death cases that have been studied, breaking it down into changes in mental function, clarity of thought, changes in perception to name a few of the different categories he discusses.

In one case, he shows a brain scan of a college student with apx. 95% of his head being filled with fluid, yet the person has a tested IQ of 125 and lives a normal life.
