[A] vital element of the control scientology exercises over its membership is the control of information.
Scientologists are exhorted not to look at the internet and not to watch the media. For they are the Merchants of Chaos (unless they report on something positive about scientology, in which case they are lauded and scientology certainly spends a LOT of money sending out paid for press releases).

Now, here is what REALLY happened at the event, from a Special Correspondent who saw it last Friday:

Miscavige first recapped the other huge victories for the church, including defeating Interpol, Germany, Australia, the case in Portland, Oregon, and the War is Over event. Supposedly this announcement ranks among them all. The criminal case in Belgium, through which the Belgium police raided Scientology three times, was finally struck out of court. No mentions were given to the Paris legal case, the Decrescendo case, nor any of the Narconon cases. I guess those are just entheta particles that the general public can’t swallow.
In summation, a wondrous waste of two hours.
Now, just to put this into context – the termination of the prosecution in Belgium happened in MARCH. And apparently no scientologist knew about it. It was a “big surprise.” And “epic news.”
No scientologist knew about this because their ONLY SOURCE of information about scientology is from scientology itself – or more specifically, from David Miscavige at his events. It is literally the ONLY “authorized” source of news.

PS: You can bet he didn’t thank the main person responsible for this – someone who is no longer in the Sea Org, but who worked for many, many years to maneuver this case into it’s final position. That in itself is another story…
